The IDF Spokesperson’s office is reporting that a delegation of some 60 IDF commanders arrived in Poland on Monday, April 16, as part of the Witnesses in Uniform program. Guided by educators from the Yad VaShem Holocaust Memorial Museum, the officers started a four day study of pre-war Poland, the Holocaust, and contemporary Jewish Polish life. “It is very, very difficult to talk about the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust. It’s impossible to comprehend such a number. So the way to make it as comprehensible as possible is through the personal narrative,” said Cpt. Liat Carmi, who oversees the program. This is the 169th Witnesses in Uniform group sent to Poland by the IDF, which plans to send a total of 16 groups just this year. The trip does not focus only the horrors of the Holocaust. “We are talking about a thousand years of Jewish history in Poland,” said Cpt. Carmi. The participants stayed in Warsaw and Krakow, and visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp and other memorial sites. At some of the sites, the soldiers held military memorial services. The participants concluded each day of the journey with a reflective discussion. Commanders explored issues such as how to incorporate the ethical lessons gleaned from the journey into their leadership as commanders, how to convey the history of the Holocaust to the soldiers under their command, and how the Holocaust influences their identities as IDF soldiers.

Foreign Policy magazine reported in an exclusive piece this week that Israel has purchased an Azeri airfield on Iran's northern border, prompting the United States to watch very closely. Journalist Mark Perry wrote the Obama administration is monitoring Israel's relations with Azerbaijan, particularly its military ties. Israel has tightened up its relations with Baku over the past several years, helping Azerbaijan modernize its military with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and becoming its second-largest customer for oil. In particular, the $1.6 billion Israeli deal to jointly manufacture 60 drones of various types with Azerbaijan infuriated Turkey, according to a retired U.S. diplomat quoted in the report. The IDF canceled a $150 million contract to develop and manufacture drones with the Turkish military after Ankara demanded an apology following the Mavi Marmara flotilla attempt to breach Israel's maritime blockade of Gaza. “The Israelis have bought an airfield,” an official told the journalist, “and the airfield is called Azerbaijan.” The Americans believe Israel may use the site as a springboard for an attack on Iran's nuclear plants, or as a landing and refueling spot following one. The site could also be used for aircraft needed for search, rescue and recovery in the wake of an attack.

Friends of Aisha in Europe, according to the report, said she believes the only country where she will feel safe is Israel, and she is advancing efforts towards obtaining political asylum with the realization that her chances of receiving asylum are not particularly good.

UNSC rejects Palestine's bid for membership

The UN Security Council Committee for Admission of New Members was unable to endorse Palestine's bid to join the ranks of this international organization. The draft report circulated at the UN headquarters in New York said that the votes of the committee's 15 Member States were divided. On October 31, Palestine was granted full UNESCO membership. During the vote, it received the support of 107 countries, including Russia. Voting "against" were 14 states, in particular, the U.S. and Israel. (Reuters)

Turkish officials vowed to reciprocate with absolute determination. Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, the PKK took up arms in 1984 to create an ethnic homeland in southeastern Turkey. More than 40,000 people have been killed in conflicts involving the PKK during the past over two decades.

Madison Grant's Nordic Theory

Grant is most famously the author of the popular book The Passing of the Great Race in 1916, an elaborate work of racial hygiene detailing the "racial history" of Europe. Coming out of Grant's concerns with the changing "stock" of American immigration of the early 20th century (characterized by increased numbers of immigrants from Southern and Eastern Europe, as opposed to Western and Northern Europe), Passing of the Great Race was a "racial" interpretation of contemporary anthropology and history, stating race as the basic motor of civilization. Similar ideas were proposed by Gustav Kossinna in Germany. Grant promoted the idea of the "Nordic race"—a loosely defined biological-cultural grouping rooted in Scandinavia—as the key social group responsible for human development; thus the subtitle of the book was The racial basis of European history. As an avid eugenicist, Grant further advocated the separation, quarantine, and eventual collapse of "undesirable" traits and "worthless race types" from the human gene pool and the promotion, spread, and eventual restoration of desirable traits and "worthwhile race types" conducive to Nordic society: A rigid system of selection through the elimination of those who are weak or unfit—in other words social failures—would solve the whole question in one hundred years, as well as enable us to get rid of the undesirables who crowd our jails, hospitals, and insane asylums. The individual himself can be nourished, educated and protected by the community during his lifetime, but the state through sterilization must see to it that his line stops with him, or else future generations will be cursed with an ever increasing load of misguided sentimentalism. This is a practical, merciful, and inevitable solution of the whole problem, and can be applied to an ever widening circle of social discards, beginning always with the criminal, the diseased, and the insane, and extending gradually to types which may be called weaklings rather than defectives, and perhaps ultimately to worthless race types. ” In the book, Grant recommends segregating "unfavorable" races in ghettos by installing civil organizations through the public health system to establish quasi-dictatorships in their particular fields. He states the expansion of non-Nordic race types in the Nordic system of freedom would actually mean a slavery to desires, passions, and base behaviors.

URUMQI, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan said member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) should consider setting up a free trade agreement (FTA) which, once in place, would cover about three fifths of the Eurasia's landmass. Zhong told a forum at the on-going China-Eurasia Expo in the northwestern city of Urumqi that such a FTA will further facilitate trade and create a sound environment for pragmatic regional economic cooperation. "Eying the trend of economic globalization, Beijing considers that SCO members should discuss the possibility of setting up a FTA within the organization at a proper time," the vice minister said. The SCO, founded in Shanghai in June 2001, groups China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The six member states cover an area of over 30 million square kilometers, or about three fifths of Eurasia, with a population of 1.455 billion, about a quarter of the world's total. Trade among SCO members grew seven times over the past decade to reach 8.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2010, Zhong said, adding that significant progress had also made in the cooperation on energy, transportation, and telecommunications. In November 2009, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev presented a draft proposal on a new European security agreement as an alternative to NATO. The document called the United States, the European Union and Russia the "three branches of European civilization," and assigned priority to the UN's role in international affairs.

Halley found the same astrological belief in Newton’s work. Al-Sharq Al-Awsat Editor: Why Does the Arab World Keep Silent as Muslim Suicide Bombers Target Innocent Muslim Civilians?

In a January 3, 2010 article titled "Truly Saddening," Al-Sharq Al-Awsat chief editor Tariq Al-Homayed complained that the Arab media and public make a fuss over such issues as the minaret ban in Switzerland or the Niqab debate in France, but remain silent in the face of the large-scale suicide bombings in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq, in which scores of innocent civilians are brutally murdered by Muslim terrorists.

He stressed that the solution lies in educating the youth against extremism, and in clarifying that the Muslim faith categorically prohibits suicide bombings.
Following are excerpts from the article:

"The Killing and Terrorizing of Innocent People by Suicide Bombers... Barely Causes Us to Bat an Eyelash"

"News of suicide bombings, murder, and destruction in Pakistan and Afghanistan, as well as in Iraq, has become commonplace, and we do not give it much thought. It is as though this [issue] does not concern us. [Instead], we see our media [preoccupied] with minor battles, such as [the issue] of the Swiss minarets and [various] other matters, while the killing and terrorizing of people by suicide bombers in these regions barely causes us to bat an eyelash, unfortunately.
"The last such suicide bombing, which took place at a volleyball game in a Pakistani village and caused 88 fatalities, was a depraved act that clearly reflected the brutality and extremism of its perpetrators. We say again and again that we cannot sit [on the sidelines] and just watch these events, believing that these [raging] flames will never [truly threaten] the Arab and Muslim [world]. It is Al-Qaeda and other [organizations] of its sort that are behind these operations – so this is something that gravely concerns us.

"The unsuccessful terrorist [attack] carried out by a young Nigerian on the American Delta [Airlines flight] proved that terrorist cells are interconnected. This Nigerian studied in London and became an extremist there, [but] he trained in Yemen and set out from Amsterdam to commit a crime in America. The day before yesterday, we heard that extremists in Somalia have announced that they would send fighters to Yemen in order to assist Al-Qaeda [there]. And that is not all. The mastermind behind the [attempted] assassination of Saudi Deputy Interior Minister Prince Mohammed Bin Naif came from Yemen, and even though he is a Saudi national, he [entered the country] from beyond the [Saudi] borders. We have also learned that the ones who kidnapped the British nationals in Iraq [later] transferred them to Iran. What some people fail to grasp is that the terrorists realize the importance of international activity, of linking interests, and of [taking] initiative far better than the [forces] fighting against them, [which are trapped in] a conventional mode of thinking."

What Is Needed "Is to Take a Firm Stand against Suicide Bombings, First of All by Firmly Inculcating the Shari'a [Law against Them]"
"What is required here is not intervention with money or men. All that is needed, [and needed] urgently, is to take a firm stand against suicide bombings, first of all by firmly inculcating the shari'a [law against them], which is not such a difficult [task]… I realize that fatwas prohibiting [suicide bombings] have [already] been issued, but unfortunately they are not imparted strongly enough. In fact, [these] fatwas are sometimes undermined by subjecting them to political interpretations or by following them with the word 'but'. Moreover, they are not given wide media coverage so as to bring them to the attention of wide sectors [in society]. What is needed is to inculcate these fatwas and explain them to the youth in the Arab and Muslim world, especially in communities blighted by ignorance and poverty.

"We see the media mounting campaigns over [various] issues which may indeed be worthy [of attention], but not as much as the killing and terrorizing of innocent people. People thus become distracted by such issues as the minarets in Switzerland, the niqab in France, and others [matters] that preoccupy the Arab and Islamic media and become the [focus] of public opinion, with [various] statements and condemnations [mobilizing] public opinion. But when 88 innocent people are killed in a Muslim country like Pakistan, and also in Iraq – and at the hands of those who claim to be Muslims, [no less] – we encounter total silence. This confuses and saddens the observer, and we must ask ourselves a simple question: What sort of value system are we employing? And how can we [accuse] others of employing a double standard when we suffer from the very same [problem]?"

Al-Hayat Editor: The Americans Do Not Understand the Realities of the Middle East

On a May 24, 2010 editorial in the London daily Al-Hayat, the paper's editor-in-chief, Ghassan Charbel, wrote that the Americans came to Iraq without understanding the nature of this country and region. They thought, he says, that they could topple Saddam's regime and rebuild Iraq like they rebuilt Japan and Germany, establishing an attractive democracy that would tempt the neighboring countries to emulate the Iraqi model. However, they failed to understand that the peoples of the Middle East "'are made up of different races, sects and denominations, which drag behind them a history of clashes, fear, and attempts to eradicate and exterminate one another, and that our real identity – like our loyalties – is either smaller or greater than the area of the countries we inhabit."
Charbel adds that the failure in Iraq is not only American, since the Iraqis also took part in the "carnival of despoliation."

Following are excerpts from an English translation of the article published in Al-Hayat:[1]
"The Americans Came to Iraq from Another Planet"
"The Americans came to Iraq from another planet. They missed the fact that this part of the world was living in a different historical period. They had a deluded [notion] that they could perform a deep surgical procedure on the region by removing Saddam Hussein's regime.

"The Iraqi politician smiles. Experience shows that the Americans were wrong in interpreting [the] people's demands and feelings. They believed that toppling Saddam Hussein would allow them to rebuild Iraq as they did Germany and Japan. They forgot about the different circumstances, the degree of economic and social development and the religious and cultural differences.

"In their faraway offices, the planners [dreamt] a naïve dream. They believed that democracy was the only dream of the people in the region, and that the mere fact of opening the Iraqi window would encourage the Iranians and Arabs to take to the streets in emulation of the Iraqi model."

The Americans "Did Not Understand that Our Real Homelands Are Our Sects and Regions"
"They did not know that we are made up of different races, sects, and denominations, which drag behind them a history of clashes, fear and attempts to eradicate and exterminate one another, and that our real identity – like our loyalties – is either smaller or greater than the area of the countries we inhabit. They did not understand that our real homelands are our sects and the regions [inhabited by people like ourselves].

"I listened to officials, politicians, and intellectuals, who all agreed that the U.S. role in Iraq has become secondary, that the invasion succeeded at toppling Saddam Hussein's regime but failed to build an attractive democratic model that would entice the region's inhabitants to embrace democracy and change and live in pluralism and rule of law. And then [they added that] the Americans were not a charity organization to begin with."

"The Talk about the U.S.'s Failure Sometimes Aims to Cover Up the Failure of the Iraqis Themselves"

"Those visiting Iraq also hear bitter confessions from politicians and intellectuals. The talk about the U.S.'s failure sometimes aims to cover up the failure of the Iraqis themselves, their failure to seize the opportunity and to quickly unite around a state with [proper] institutions and rule of law.
"One politician places the Iraqis themselves on the list of those who have despoiled Iraq. He speaks of the horrors of the violence on the streets, and of the looting of ministries and institutions. This politician denounces the foreign parties that despoiled Iraq and continue to do so, but he considers the catastrophe to lie in the Iraqi forces' contribution to the drawn-out carnival of despoliation.
"The future of Iraq is uncertain, as many admit. One also hears that Iraq used to be a player and has become a playground, used to be a country and has become an arena, that the dream of a strong Iraq [standing] once again at the Eastern gates of the Arab World is a dream that can no longer be fulfilled, and that restoring the Iraqi side of the Iraq-Iran-Turkey triangle will take a long time – aside from the fact that the return of a strong Iraq seems impossible due to [Iraq's] structure and the changes it has suffered."

Fears in Arab World Following Gaza Coup: Hamas Is Threatening Entire Arab World

The Arab world as a whole has not yet formulated a clear position on the events in Gaza. While the Arab countries fully backed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in his struggle against Hamas, spokesmen and senior officials have refrained from burning bridges with Hamas.

The same trend is evident in the Arab media. Most articles avoided siding clearly with either Fatah or Hamas, calling on both sides to reach an understanding through negotiations. However, some op-eds in the press have harshly condemned Hamas's violent takeover of the Gaza Strip, saying that it has dealt a death blow to the Palestinian cause and has destroyed any hope of resolving the Palestinian problem. In them, the writers accuse Iran and Syria of direct involvement in the Gaza coup, which they say serves these countries' interests. They also expressed concern that the emergence of what they termed the "Hamas Islamic Emirate" would threaten the entire Arab world.

The following are excerpts from op-eds critical of Hamas in the Arab press:
Hamas Has Buried the Palestinian Cause and Has Become Its Enemy
In the Egyptian government daily Al-Ahram, columnist Makram Muhammad Ahmad wrote: "Hamas has seized power in Gaza for a while, but it has dealt a death blow to the Palestinian cause, and buried it – God only knows for how long. [By taking over Gaza, it has] isolated the Strip from the West Bank - something Israel has wanted to do for a long time, and now Hamas has handed it [this achievement] on a silver platter.

"[The Gaza coup] has also dashed any hopes of reaching a peace agreement in the foreseeable future, because Hamas has supplied Israel with evidence to back up its claim that there is no Palestinian partner [for negotiations], since Fatah and Hamas are busy with their civil war and have no time for this issue."(1)
Talal Salman, owner of the Lebanese daily Al-Safir, wrote: "Palestine has collapsed in a pool of its own blood, and the only ones to blame are those who promised to liberate it. [The Palestinians] have nearly lost their homeland, and the only ones to blame are those who wielded weapons in order to wrench it from the enemy, but have lost their way. The fedayeen have become the murderers of their own comrades-in-arms...

"The Palestinians have become an example of [a nation] in ruins that has lost its [national] rights. Some of them have taken to characterizing others as criminals and as being outside [the boundaries of] law and legitimacy. The Palestinians have become the enemies of Palestine, and have granted a victory to their [real] enemy – the enemy of the Arabs, of the Muslims, and of the Christians – namely, Israel. There is close competition between the Palestinians and the Iraqis over which will be the first to bring his country back to the era prior to the [emergence] of the [modern] state, and perhaps to the era prior to [the emergence of] tribes, clans, and families – or even to the era before [the advent of] Islam and the other religions."(2)

Iran and Syria Are Behind the Gaza Coup

In an op-ed titled "The Gaza Earthquake," Al-Sharq Al-Awsat editor Tariq Al-Humayd wrote: "The preparedness of the Hamas fighters... proves that while Hamas and its leaders were crying out about lack of funds, Hamas was [actually] amassing arms and ammunition. Someone is providing it with regular funding, and as a result it appeared to be better prepared [for fighting] than the legitimate authorities.
"The source of the funds is obviously Iran. Today, no one has control over Hamas... except Iran, its economic patron, and Syria, where Khaled Mash'al resides. The tangled threads [that pass through] the entire Arab region lead to two countries only – Syria and Iran..."(3)

Ahmad Al-Jarallah, editor of the Kuwaiti daily Al-Siyassa, wrote: "By means of Hamas's takeover in Gaza, the Iran-Syria axis has managed to destroy the Mecca agreement, to sabotage the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, and to block the role of Saudi Arabia, which had become the regional authority [handling] the hotspots in the [Middle East], namely Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine...
"In giving up its national Palestinian aspirations and succumbing to the policies of the Iranian-Syrian axis, Hamas has become like those gangs of spies who habitually serve foreign interests. Hamas is booby-trapping Palestinian society with destructive ideas, such as the Iranian [principle of] "the rule of the jurisprudent" and [other Iranian] ideological concepts...

"In this case, Hamas has become like Hizbullah in Lebanon. Both [movements] have no national will [of their own], but only blind commitment to the agendas of Iran and Syria – even if it brings down the Palestinian home on the heads of [its people]..."(4)

Jordanian journalist Raja Talib wrote in the Jordanian government daily Al-Rai: "Reality has shown that even if Hamas was originally a Palestinian [movement], it is now completely [committed] to the ideological agenda of Tehran – in terms of its perception of the enemy and of the struggle against the enemy; in terms of its political priorities; and in terms of its financial and material backing. Thus, Hamas is setting back – by decades – the Palestinian cause, the development of the military and political struggle [for Palestine], and the PLO plan [for liberating Palestine], so that they will [all] serve Iran's needs."(5)

In Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, former Kuwaiti education minister Ahmad Al-Ruba'i criticized Iran's and Syria's support of Hamas, and said that the current horrors in Gaza reminded him of scenes from the 1948 war:
"We should not be surprised if Khaled Mash'al soon holds a press conference in Damascus or Tehran to announce the liberation of the West Bank. [After all,] the man has extensive connections in the region, and the Hamas movement enjoys economic and logistic concessions in the region.

"Don't be surprised if he declares a 'divine victory' in all the [occupied] territories, unites the two Palestinian states, and is elected as the new Palestinian president. [Then], he will perhaps transfer some of the Iranian nuclear facilities to Ramallah and emulate the Biblical Samson, [who said] 'Let me die with the Philistines.'
"The sight of Palestinian mothers leaving [the Gaza Strip] with their children [via] the Erez crossing... is the same sight as that of Palestinian mothers and their children leaving the Nahr Al-Bared camp [in northern Lebanon], and is the same sight as that of the Palestinian mothers and their children who were obliged to leave their villages and homes after the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948."(6)
The Islamic Emirate of Gaza Threatens the Entire Arab World

In his op-ed "The Gaza Earthquake," Tariq Al-Humayd wrote: "What is happening in Gaza, and the emergence of the Hamas's Islamic emirate there, can only be described as an earthquake, and not only for the Palestinians... The impact of this Islamic emirate on our Arab world will not be like that [caused by] the emergence of the Taliban Emirate, [for] it is more dangerous, to the point where it will [threaten] Arab security.

"It is well known that the Islamist streams do not believe in the concept of a state, and that their battle against the Arab regimes is a long-term battle... The Hamas emirate will be a source of spiritual inspiration for Islamist groups [in the region], and a meeting point for everyone interested in armed activities..."(7)
Egyptian intellectual Ma'moun Fandy likened Hamas to a computer virus that threatens to destroy the Arab world. He wrote in Al-Sharq Al-Awsat: "The Muslims must understand that the Hamas emirate is a model that the Islamists aim to implant in all their countries. [They want] all our countries to become two-headed entities, with Islamist rule [alongside] the rule of the state. All the Arab countries that are riding two horses at once – the national one and the Islamist one – will inevitably reach a crossroads at which each horse will go in a different direction. The two legs [on which the country stands] will split, and the country will split in two, [as is now happening with the Palestinians:] one leg in Gaza, and the other in the West Bank.

"To use a metaphor from the programming world, the Arab region is like a computer with 22 directories, symbolizing the 22 [Arab] countries. If a virus attacks one of the directories, the programmer must delete that directory [along with] the virus, lest the virus infect the other directories and destroy the entire computer.
"We are now faced with a dangerous virus, in the form of the Hamas Emirate. A [previous] symptom of this infection was Hizbullah in Lebanon, and we see some signs of it in Egypt and Algeria as well – especially since the mother virus, the Muslim Brotherhood, has existed in Egypt for ages, in all its potency..."(8)

An Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla in May was justified, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday.

Israel faced international condemnation after its soldiers stormed the six-ship Freedom Flotilla on May 31, killing nine activists. The ships were carrying 10,000 tons of aid to the troubled Gaza Strip. Israel says the soldiers acted in self-defense, but those on board claimed otherwise.

"I am convinced that at the end of your investigation, it will become clear that the state of Israel and the IDF [Israeli Defense Forces] acted in accordance with international law," Netanyahu told an Israeli commission investigating the raid, according to Al Jazeera news agency.

Netanyahu criticized Turkey for failing to halt the flotilla run by Turkish activist group IHH.

"Despite our diplomatic efforts, the Turkish government did nothing," he said. "[It] did not consider the confrontation between Turkish activists and Israel to be against its interests."

Netanyahu is the first in a series of high-ranking officials to testify before the commission, including Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

Last week, the United Nations set up an independent commission, led by ex-New Zealand premier Geoffrey Palmer, to investigate the Israeli raid. It is due to begin its inquiry on Tuesday.

US Warns Eilat Travelers, Ignores Aqaba

Israel wants to know why the U.S. State Department has issued a travel advisory for Eilat, but not for neighboring Aqaba, when in fact both locations have suffered from rocket attacks.

Twice in the past four months, and most recently last week, rockets have been fired towards the adjacent port cities of Eilat, Israel and Aqaba, Jordan. While it appears clear that Eilat was the target, at least one rocket hit Aqaba in both incidents – and a Jordanian was even killed in last week’s attack. In April, two or three rockets targeted Eilat, but all landed in Aqaba instead, causing damage but no casualties.

Despite this, the State Department warns American visitors to Eilat to make sure they "ascertain the location of the nearest bomb shelter." Though a previous version of the warning, issued immediately after the latest attack, warned visitors against travel to Aqaba altogether for the ensuing 48 hours, no warning is currently in effect for Aqaba.

Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov requested a meeting with U.S. Ambassador in Israel James Cunningham to register his protest at the double standard. Cunningham is out of the country, however.

“This advisory gives a prize to terror,” a Tourism Ministry statement declares, “and undermines regional stability, as well as the sense of security that Israel gives to everyone who enters the country. Differentiating Israel from its neighbor, which actually suffered loss of life, is improper and lacks balance.”

U.S. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley, who was asked about the apparent double standard at a Monday press conference, answered blandly that that the advisories are "based on our best judgment of the assessment of risk wherever American citizens are traveling… I would say that it's not our judgment that the risk is identical between the two locations."

During the Hamas takeover of Gaza, the movement's leaders made statements in support of an Islamic state, expressed hope for the victory of Islam over the infidels, and called to build a mosque in place of the PA offices and to kill Fatah members. Hamas gunmen ransacked a Catholic convent and school.

Fatah members, most notably PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, accused Hamas of attempting to transform the conflict from a national-political confrontation into a religious-sectarian one, and of sanctioning the killing of Fatah members. Some Fatah members also expressed fear that Hamas would turn Gaza into a Taliban-style Islamic emirate with Iranian and Syrian support.

Hamas Official: The Secular Era in Gaza Has Ended; Islam Will Triumph Over the Infidels

Hamas official Nizar Rayyan promised to turn the headquarters of the National Security Forces in Gaza into a big mosque and to deliver a sermon at the presidential headquarters. In addition, he said: "In a few hours, the secular era in Gaza will end without leaving a trace... Today heresy ends. Today the struggle is between Islam and the infidels, and it will end with the victory of the faith. [Once victorious], Hamas will open its arms to the members of the security forces, so that they will return to the faith, [for] Islam is generous with infidels [who repent]. We hold the truth and they [represent] falsehood... How can we not fight against those who desecrate the sanctity of Allah, execute clerics and sell out the Palestinian cause – those who blasphemed in houses of worship, burned mosques, Korans and [Islamic] education facilities and executed jihad fighters? We will hold dialogue with these [people] only through the barrels of our guns."(1)
Concerns About Persecution of Christians in Gaza

The most serious manifestation of the Islamization of Gaza were the attacks on Christians during the Hamas takeover of Gaza. On June 19, 2007, masked gunmen looted and torched the Rosary Sisters convent and school.

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas condemned the Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades and the Executive Force for looting and torching Christian facilities, describing these acts as crimes and as barbarism that may disastrously undermine the unity of the Palestinian people. "The torching of the convent," he said, "is one of the rotten fruits of this black coup perpetrated by the Hamas militias. Blinded by fanaticism... they broke the law and desecrated the holy places and houses of worship of our Christian Palestinian [brothers]." Abbas called on the Palestinians "to stand firm against those who wish to drown our people in an ocean of blood and darkness – [those who wish to] transform the conflict from a national-political confrontation into a religious-sectarian one, to destroy the unity among the [various] sectors and sects within the Palestinian people... and to impose a culture of hostility and takfir."(2)

Yousef Al-Qazzaz, a senior Palestinian Broadcasting Authority official, wrote: "The hands drenched in the blood of Fatah members and security forces members have [also] torched a library in a Gaza church."(3)

Following the attack on the Rosary Sisters convent, Christian citizens in Gaza expressed fear of being targeted as well. A citizen who asked to remain anonymous, said: "We are afraid of being attacked... If I get the chance to leave the country, I will not hesitate to do so. Someone from the [Hamas] Executive Force tore the crucifix from my neck, saying: 'That is forbidden.' Then he added: 'Islam is the solution.'"(4)

Fears of a Taliban-Style Emirate in Gaza

Fatah officials and columnists in the PA dailies were skeptical of the Hamas' declarations that it would not try to impose Islam upon the citizens in Gaza. They said that the acts and statements of Hamas – destruction of monuments, attacks on Christians and calls to establish an Islamic emirate – portended a Taliban-like reality. Yousef Al-Qazzaz said: "[Hamas] members destroyed the monument of the unknown soldier [in Gaza] just as the Taliban destroyed archeological sites and monuments in Afghanistan."(5)

Fatah official Samir Mashharawi said to the London daily Al-Hayat: "Hamas aims to establish a mini-state in the Gaza Strip modeled on the Taliban [state] in Afghanistan."(6)

Al-Ayyam columnist Hassan Khadhr wrote: "Countries in the region and in the world are now [concerned] that the Gaza Strip may become an Islamic emirate, especially since the Hamas spokesmen have not hesitated to feed these fears , for instance [by stating that] 'the era of justice and Islamic rule has arrived,' as a Hamas spokesman [recently] said."(7)

Another Al-Ayyam columnist, Abd Al-Nasser Al-Najjar, wrote: "How will the mini-state of the new Taliban [i.e. Hamas] manage the affairs of the Gaza Strip under a suffocating international siege?... Will they implement the laws of Islam?... An Islamic state [ruled by] the new Taliban has become a reality in Gaza, although most of the citizens [in Gaza] are not Hamas [supporters]... On the international level, [only] one or two countries [like] Syria and Iran will recognize this mini-state, and even if they do not recognize it, they will assist it as long as it serves their interests."(8)

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida columnist Omar Hilmi Al-Ghul wrote that Hamas' claim that it would not impose Islam on the citizens is nothing but an empty promise, since "those who want to preserve the social and national fabric and [to defend] the freedom of the citizens and the political [forces] do not destroy [national] monuments. The monument of the unknown soldier [that was destroyed by Hamas] was not a religious [monument] but a symbol of national struggle. Are there no monuments [of this sort] in Iran, Pakistan and other Arab and Muslim states? The destruction of this monument takes our people in the direction that Nizar Rayyan was heading towards [when he] expressed... a wish to establish an Islamic Emirate... Why did [Hamas members] torch a convent? Does that reflect a policy of preserving the social and national fabric?"(9)

Black Images of Islam

In an article titled "Black Images of Islam," Al-Hayat Al-Jadida columnist Bakr Abu Bakr described a series of incidents which, in his opinion, had severely damaged the image of Islam. The first of these was the Muslim reaction to the Danish cartoons, the second was the crowd shouting Shi'ite victory slogans at Saddam Hussein's execution, the third was the Afghan boy who laughed with glee as he beheaded a Westerner in Afghanistan, which was, Abu Bakr says, a striking demonstration of "glorious Islam" – and the fourth was the Gaza coup.

Abu Bakr characterized the coup as "the victory that the bloodthirsty Hamas movement tried to present on its TV channel after [Hamas members] murdered 18 innocent Muslims at the security headquarters of the Palestinian Authority, which they call 'the heretic and collaborating authority. They [even] held a prayer [at the headquarters]. I do not understand why they give thanks to Allah and why they are praying... The sight of the black-clad masked [men] – bloodthirsty [gunmen] who accuse others of heresy – praying at the headquarters of the Preventive Security Apparatus was such a disgraceful sight that one of my friends in Gaza said that it made him feel ashamed to be a Palestinian, an Arab and a Muslim like those [men]."(10)

Palestinian columnist Omar Hilmi Al-Ghul wrote: "The PA, the security forces and even Fatah have made mistakes and [have all been guilty of] corruption, but the question is how these phenomena should be dealt with. [Is it correct to respond by starting] conflicts, accusing fighters of heresy and spreading false accusations and internal strife? [Is it right to respond] with benighted incitement on the media, calling on Palestinians to kill Palestinians in the name of religion? Where is this Paradise that they talk about? Isn't it disgraceful that a Hamas MP said, 'We want the struggle between the Believers and those who have given their loyalty to the Jews to be decided by the force'? [The same MP] continued his benighted incitement, saying, 'We smell the fragrance of Paradise and victory.' Can there be victory in a criminal civil war?"(11)

Responding to Nizar Rayyan's statement that the secular era has ended, Abu Bakr wrote: "If all the Muslims and leaders were like you, religion would have expired long ago... Let the Hamas movement enjoy its leaders who level accusations of heresy and treason at their own people."(12)

Closure of Taiba Mosque
Hamburg Hate Preachers Lose Their Home

Islamic extremists in Germany have lost an important meeting place following Monday's move by Hamburg authorities to close the Taiba mosque and the society attached to it. Sept. 11 suicide pilot Mohammed Atta used to frequent the mosque, which investigators say has been supporting terrorism for years.

The name of the mosque is a striking exaggeration. Masjid Taiba, which means "beautiful mosque," is located in a plain building on a street in the seedy St. Georg district of Hamburg, right next door to a fitness studio. To get to the prayer rooms one has to walk into a poorly-lit foyer and up some stone steps. The carpet in the prayer room is worn and, in winter, condensation drips down the panes of the poorly insulated windows.

Nevertheless, 250 Muslims crowded into the mosque for Friday prayers -- Moroccans, Bosnians, Russians and many Germans. They included some elderly people, but most of them were young men. Many of them had converted to Islam or had returned to the religion after years away from it, and in a lot of cases, these men were radical in their beliefs.

At around 6 a.m. on Monday, the Hamburg police raided the mosque as well as the Arab-German Cultural Society attached to it, and the homes of society members. The mosque was closed with immediate effect, the society was banned and its assets and documents were confiscated.

Extremists Met in Mosque, Authorities Say

Hamburg Interior Minister Christoph Ahlhaus described the mosque as "a focal point for the jihadist scene." The Taiba society had "spread an ideology that was hostile to democracy" in sermons, courses, seminars and via the Internet, Ahlhaus said.

The mosque claimed to represent the original and only true form of Islam, unadulterated by the temptations of the modern world. That is why many worshippers who prayed there didn't mind being called Islamists and fundamentalists. After all, they argued, this was where the foundations of Islam were being taught.

Many of them are convinced that most Islamic countries are ruled by tyrants. A caliphate, like the one the Taliban had established in Afghanistan before 2001, is the only truly Islamic form of government, they said. Many visitors approved of the "Islamic resistance" now being waged against foreign forces, including German troops, in Afghanistan.

Under Close Scrutiny

Every Muslim visitor must have known that he was under close scrutiny from police authorities as soon as he set foot in the building. In fact, it proved quite helpful for the Hamburg intelligence service because all the city's Islamists would congregate here. That might explain why the deputy head of the service, Manfred Murck, didn't express delight at its closure at a news conference on Monday.

The mosque had been watched closely since immediately after the Sept. 11 attacks because some of the suicide pilots, including Mohammed Atta, had frequented it. It attracted heightened attention last year after a group of 10 Hamburg jihadists traveled to the border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan, apparently in order to gain terrorist training there. One of them, an Iranian called Shahab D., joined the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IBU) there and appeared in a video under the name Abu Askar in which he called on German Muslims to join the armed struggle.

Legal proceedings to ban the Taiba society lasted months until July 30, when the Hamburg senior administrative court ruled that the ban could go ahead. After Sept. 11, the mosque had become a "symbolic place for jihadists," Murck said on Monday.

Well Connected

Hamburg's intelligence service estimates that some 45 jihadists live in Hamburg. The scene has good contacts with like-minded Islamists in other German cities including Frankfurt, Berlin, Bonn and Bielefeld. Murck said there was a strong sense that the Hamburg members wanted to contribute to jihad. "They want to become heroes," he said. But he added that there were no concrete indications at present of any planned attacks.

Authorities say the Taiba society has 20 to 30 members and that between 200 and 250 people attended Friday prayers there. Occasionally, sermons were held by Mamoun Darkazanli, a German-Syrian businessman who has long been on the radar of German authorities because of his alleged association with the suicide pilots of Sept. 11.

But investigators never found evidence that he had provided support for al-Qaida. Darkazanli is on the European Union's terror list. He is not permitted to open a bank account or run a business.

Lothar Bergmann, departmental head for public safety in the Hamburg Interior Ministry, described him as a "hate preacher" on Monday. Spain has filed a request for his extradition on terrorism charges but Germany won't extradite him. Authorities say he lives off state benefits.

Article in Saudi Daily Accuses U.S. Ambassadors in Arab States of 'Wild Behavior,' 'Political Blackmail'

Maysar Al-Shamari, a columnist for the daily Al-Hayat, wrote an article in the paper's Saudi edition lambasting U.S. ambassadors in Arab countries for "defying the sovereignty of the countries where they serve" and interfering in their affairs. He was especially critical of the U.S. Ambassador in Egypt, Margaret Scobey, whom he called an "old bag." He urged the Arab states, starting with Egypt, to put the ambassadors in their place.

Following are excerpts from the article:[1]
"Why are the U.S. ambassadors in the Arab countries so politically reckless, or, to put it differently, why do they [engage in] political blackmail? Why do the U.S. ambassadors in Latin America stay within the boundaries of accepted [diplomatic behavior] while their colleagues in the Arab countries defy the sovereignty of the countries where they serve? This question, and many others I do not dare to voice [here], open the door to [discussing] the enslavement of the [Arab] 'governments' to the West in general and to the U.S. in particular, and reflect Washington's disdain for these 'governments,' which have given up their sovereignty in order to appease the U.S. ambassadors.

"Yesterday, the Egyptian press reported that the U.S. ambassador to Cairo, Margaret Scobey, had made a surprise visit to the headquarters of [Egypt's] National Human Rights Council, where she demanded clarifications from the head of the council, Moqbel Shaker, about the death of an Egyptian young man named Khaled Sa'id on June 6, [2010] at a police station in Alexandria. The old bag's wild behavior did not stop there. She also visited Egypt's minister of legal and parliamentary affairs, Dr. Moufid Shehab, for exactly the same reason. This was an infringement on Egypt's sovereignty and interference in its internal affairs. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry should have asked the U.S. State Department to put the old bag in her place!...
"[The young man,] Khaled Sa'id, was an Egyptian citizen, as are the two policemen suspected of killing him, and the case is being handled by the Egyptian justice system... Therefore, Scobey has no right to interfere in Egypt's affairs. This is arrogance – and even worse, stupidity – on America's part, and it must be stopped.
"But the most painful [example] of American stupidity was provided by U.S. State Department spokesman Philip Crowley. When the U.S. administration got the impression that the inter-Arab reconciliation was being renewed, Crowley said: 'Damascus must listen carefully [and internalize] the need to get away from Tehran.' Crowley's statement cannot be regarded as anything other than political blackmail of the most despicable kind. Its purpose was to sabotage inter-Arab relations, and to leave Lebanon vulnerable without an Arab umbrella to protect it from civil war and from Israel's [aggression]. If the U.S. wanted to dismantle the Syria-Iran alliance, it could have asked Syria directly, but Crowley made this silly statement in order to sabotage the inter-Arab reconciliation.

"Returning to the issue of the U.S.'s wild behavior in Egypt, and Ambassador Scobey's surprise visits... I think that the silence on the part of the Egyptian administration encourages Scobey to continue this wild behavior. Why did the Egyptian Foreign Ministry summon the ambassadors of the European Union in Cairo in protest of a statement [they] issued about the death of Khaled Sa'id? Why didn't the Egyptian Foreign Ministry ask the State Department to curb the behavior of Ambassador Scobey, as it did with the European ambassadors?"

Saudi Columnist: 'There Is No Islam without Jihad'
Anas Zahed, a columnist for the Saudi government daily Al-Madina, criticized Arab and Muslim intellectuals who limit the term jihad to a personal, spiritual struggle and reject its interpretation as waging war against occupation, which he said is its principle meaning.

Following are excerpts:
"Islam without jihad is the product of colonialism and is in no way connected to the Islam of Muhammad. Without question, the greatest jihad is personal jihad, and therein lies the proof that the term jihad in Islam is not limited [solely] to waging war... [But] this does not mean that the term jihad does not include many other aspects, among them those which relate to the individual's responsibilities to society, and the relations of the [Muslim] society and ummah with societies and countries that declare war on a Muslim state.

"[However,] ever since the American [declaration of] war against what is called terrorism, there has emerged a group of Arab and Muslim authors and academics who try to limit jihad to one dimension, namely to personal jihad. This is exactly what happened in India during the period of British colonialism, when the Qadian sect, also known as Ahmadiyya, emerged and rejected the principle of fighting the colonialists. [They] abolished the duty of jihad in the sense of waging war, and were content with preaching merely personal jihad.

"What is striking is that these preachings, which were intended to rescind the duty of jihad from Islam, existed then, and still exist now, alongside the most brutal type of imperialism and occupation ever known to the Islamic world, and specifically to the Arab world. This fact sheds doubt on the intent of the philosophers, authors, and members of the media who took it upon themselves to disseminate a 'friendly' Islam that obligates its followers to live with occupation, [population] transfer, the resettlement of land, and the expulsion of its inhabitants by force of arms.
"I completely understand that we Muslims must reexamine the term jihad, after the extremist terrorist gangs have attempted to appropriate this noble term. Likewise, I completely understand that we are bound by the conditions and limitations of [declaring] jihad, namely [that jihad can only be declared when] Muslims are being expelled from their land and [are subjected] to religious coercion.

"But I do not at all understand Muslims' calls for the reexamination of the term jihad from a viewpoint that rejects declaring war on those who occupy their land, kill the innocent, destroy homes, and expel millions. Islam is a religion of justice, and the most basic principle of justice demands that evil be opposed and not surrendered to. It goes without saying that occupation is the severest form of evil. If we add to occupation the resettlement of land and expulsion [of population], we arrive at the greatest degree of evil that can befall man. There is no Islam without jihad."[1]

A New Look at the Politics Behind the Holocaust

On November 14, 2007, Fox 5 broadcast aired syndicated TV episode of the sitcom “Back to you” all over the country. The show was presented in prime time and the ratings show that the episode titled “Something's up there” was watched by 7 3000 000 viewers. A journalist of Polish background named Gary Crezyzewski, happens to be one of the characters. In that particular episode his fellow, trying to talk him into representing a TV station in a bowling tournament, says to him: “Come on Crezyzewski, you're the best bowler at this station. It's in your Polish blood, like kielbasa, collaborating with the Nazis.” These words are followed by a studio generated sitcom laughter, clearly louder than at other moments. Crezyzewski himself does not react to those remarks in any way. In my letter to Fox network I asked: Do you believe that after a transfusion of “Polish” blood one becomes an instant antisemite? Professor Chodakowski's “researches” are another example of a skillful propaganda avoiding the core issue of the United Nations wartime policy for which Poland was a marginal issue. The Palestine First was and still is the “Lighthouse” of this policy.

Well, by focusing on the “Polish antisemitism” and the “Polish death camp” the US elites' propaganda aims at deflecting the attention of the American people from the Arab collaboration with the Nazis, of which the best example is

The US Holocaust Museum which Ignores the Mufti

Boston attorney Charles Morse has made an issue of the fact that the US Holocaust Museum simply ignores any mention of the Arab or Muslim role in the Holocaust, as well as the link between Nazism and current Islamic extremism. The museum has programs on the role of Christianity in promoting anti-Semitism; yet, nothing on Islam.

There is no mention of the Mufti Al-Husseini in the museum's permanent exhibit, nor is there any reference to the Mufti in the millions of files in the US Holocaust Museum. In contrast, there are 33 large files on the Mufti in the Yad VaShem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem.

Walter Reich, who served as the director of the US Holocaust Museum from 1995 to 1998, was quoted in the Washington Times on February 9th, 2006 as saying that "a focus on Arab and Muslim anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial at the Holocaust museum... would be, I believe, appropriately within the museum's mandate. Indeed, it would be strange if the museum did not focus on such anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial, given the museum's devotion not only to the Holocaust, but also to contemporary genocides and given the prevalence in contemporary Arab rhetoric of not only the kind of anti-Semitism that helped lead to the Holocaust, but also the calls for genocide that are aimed at the Jews of Israel."
The mufti's memoirs and other studies appeared in Arabic. Obviously, the museum's authors do not know those books of that language.

Big chunks of knowledge have been left out in the museum's narrative. Almost nothing relates to the 29 years he lived after WWII, though there is the fairy tale of his “escape” from Paris to Cairo in 1946. But escape? Before this happened, the French said he was free to go.

Missing is his help in getting thousands of Nazis jobs in the Middle East in the military, security and propaganda (most converted to Islam). You wonder from where the deadly ideology came that pushed Israel into a spiral of a struggle for survival.. Here you learn nothing about the mufti's bases in Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iran, or Pakistan. Nor is anything said about his involvement in the murder of those willing to come to terms with the young Jewish state, people like Jordan's King Abdullah I.

Missing is the mufti's worldwide incitement of terror against Israel and Jews, the support for his protege Y. Arafat or his being tutored by the Nazi general Otto Remer, commander of the A. Hitler Leibstandarde, and his role in finding retreats for Muslim Brothers in cities like Geneva or Munich. You don't read anything about the global Islamic organizations he built until his death in 1974.

Reich lost his position at the US Holocaust Museum when he objected to the overture of President Bill Clinton's Middle East advisor, Dennis Ross, who suggested that Yasser Arafat, the protege of the Mufti, be brought as an honored guest to the Museum.

Obviously, Blaming the Arabs as collaborators of Hitler's in executing the Holocaust wouldn't serve well the grandiose project of establishing Palestinian state which is considered a first step in the final destruction of the Jewish state.

Seymour Hersh in his interview (The President Has Accepted Ethnic Cleansing) for SpiegelOnline of Sept. 28, 2007 said: “We have this wonderful capacity to Hitlerize people. We had Hitler, and since then we had about 20 of them. Khrushchev and Mao and, of course, Stalin, and for a little while Gadhafi was our Hitler. And now we have this guy Ahmadinejad. The reality is, he is not nearly as powerful inside the country as we like to think he is.”

The XIIIth Point of Pres. Wilson’s Fourteen Points stipulated “An independent Polish state which should include the territories inhabited by indisputably Polish population, which should be assured a free and secure access to the sea, and whose political and economic independence and territorial integrity should be guaranteed by international covenant.” There was no Point stipulating an independent Jewish state even though Balfour’s declaration of 1917 proclaimed a homeland for Jews in Palestine. Accordingly, on August 28, 1919, the American “King-Crane Commission” presented its report and recommendations to the allies on the status of Syria, Iraq, and Palestine. This commission had been delegated by the Paris Conference to study the situation there. The Commission, noting that, “a national home for the Jewish people is not equivalent to making Palestine into a Jewish state,” recommended that, “…Jewish immigration should be definitely limited, and that the project for making Palestine distinctly a Jewish commonwealth should be given up.” (see G. Antonius, The Arab Awakening. London, 1938) p. 448, 450) The report recommended the creation of a single Arab state – “Greater Syria” – that included Lebanon and Palestine and would have been administered under American mandatory power (“Palestine” at the time also included the area that became Jordan in 1921).

Woodrow Wilson in his presidential address claimed “that the whole nation has awakened to and recognizes the extraordinary importance of the science of human heredity, as well as its application to the ennoblement of the human family.”

“Your father is the devil and you desire to do what gives him pleasure. He always was a murderer and standeth not in truth because truth is not in him. When he says what is false, he does what is natural to him, for he is a liar and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe not.” John 8:44

This verse inspired Martin Luther's extremely anti-Semitic book titled The Jews and Their Lies in 1543. In this book he accused Jews of being liars and thieves and blamed just about every bad thing in the world on “the Jews”. He also requested in this book that the Catholic Church cast the Jews out of Europe, and it was the Church's failure to comply with this request, among others, that convinced Martin Luther to break with the Catholic Church. Five centuries later a German Member of Parliament added in his anti-Semitic rant the feature that M. Luther omitted from St. John's charges. He called Jews a Taetervolk, a nation of murderers. Like their God in Jesus' rant. The Nazis proclaimed that “Jehova, whom the Jews worship is the greatest of all criminals.”

In short, there was no place for a Jewish state in the Middle East in Anglo-American policy and that attitude is reflected in the pseudo-religion called New Age rooted in the theosophical movement initiated by the Russian-German Aryan chauvinist Helena von Hahn-Blavatsky, who became the goddess in the Nazi pantheon, and therefore earned a footnote in the book sponsored by Card. K. Wojtyla published in 1975 which was rewarded by the ill-famous UN resolution equating Zionism with racism. This resolution is being revived periodically (Durban, Geneva) by Mary Robinson (an incarnation of the Bloody Mary) and any of that ilk.
The famous Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zizek in his article The Pope’s Failures (In These Times, April 8, 2005) observed: “Although the modern topic of human rights is ultimately grounded in the Jewish notion of the love for one’s neighbor we tend to establish today a negative link between the Decalogue (the traumatically imposed divine Commandments) and human rights. That is to say, within our post-political, liberal-permissive society, human rights have, ultimately, become the rights to disobey the Ten Commandments. “The right to privacy” – the right to adultery, done in secrecy, where no one has the right to probe. “The right to pursue happiness and private property” – the right to steal and exploit others. “Freedom of expression and freedom of the press” – the right to lie. “The right of free citizens to bear weapons” (cp. those Palestinian terrorists always with their shotguns, shooting into air without a cause) – the right to kill. And ultimately, “freedom of religious belief” – the right to worship false gods like the Palestinians do in their worship of Baal). In the minds of some Europeans (of Voltaire, for example, the Jews were relics of a barbarous and obscurantist past, and as such were unworthy of the rights of free men.

Those Scientific Syrians

“At the same period there was coming into existence that speculative Ionian philosophy to which the world owes the origin of free thought and critical philosophy. As professor Bury has said, ‘Our deepest gratitude is due to the Greeks as the originators of liberty of thought and discussion. Ionia in Asia Minor was the cradle of free speculation. The history of European science and European philosophy begins in Ionia. Here in the 6th and 5th centuries B.C. the earliest philosophers by using their reason sought to penetrate into the origin and structure of the world. They began the work of destroying orthodox views and religious faiths’ (Encyclopedia Americana, ed. 1954, entry History).

Greek Philosophy as a model of free thought? Plutarch writes that, the heliocentric hypothesis of Aristarchus of Samos was proved (apodeiknumi) by a certain Seleukos of Syria (Seleucos prins opinion d’affermer la terre veritablement autour des poles se mouuoir non le ciel – Rabelais, Pantagruel, Book V, ch. 25 (1552). The Greek verb ‘apodeiknumi’ used by Plutarch is cognate with the theological concept of dogma. Statements of speculative philosophy (‘knowledge of good and evil’) were termed by Latin writers decreta, scita, placita, axiomata, enunciata, effata. Cicero replaced all these terms by one: dogmata. Inquisition was not an invention of Catholic Church; already Plato wanted to defend his dogmas with the help of such an institution. Let me quote here two verses of the canonical Gospel of Mark 1:21-22 describing this event: “And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the Sabbath day he (Jesus) entered into the synagogue, and taught. Lord Rothermere of the London Daily Mail gave a total of $5 million in cash to assist in Hitler’s rise to power. So, you know who are the people who dislike Pres. Bush’s foreign policy. Huxley like, the other representatives of his caste saw his New Brave World of the future embodied in the Nazi state of A. Hitler. The book was published in 1932, a year before Hitler took power. The following quotation form A. In May 1939 came the British White Paper renouncing the Balfour Declaration and the mandate on which British authority rested. The White Paper was prepared by George Antonius’s, The Arab Awakening: The Story of the Arab National Movement (Philadelphia: J.B. Lippincott, 1939) The British imperialism in the Middle East was justified in such words: “There seems to be no valid reason why Palestine should not be constituted into an independent Arab state in which as many Jews as the country can hold without prejudice to its political and economic freedom would live in peace, security and dignity, and enjoy full rights of citizenship. Such an Arab state would naturally be tied to Great Britain by a freely-negotiated treaty which should contain provisions for the safeguarding of British strategic and economic interest. It would secure Great Britian’s interests on a firm basis of consent. And it would restore Palestine to its proper place, as a symbol of peace in the hearts of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.”

Well, in 1922 The British divided their Palestine Mandate into a puppet state Jordan, east of the Jordan river and forbade the Jews to settle there. Ever since only the areas west of Jordan were recognized as Palestine. In 1939 the British forbade the Jews to settle in Palestine too, the Balfour Declaration notwithstanding. Now, it turns out that only part of this Palestine belongs to Jewish people and they are forbidden to settle in the areas considered as Palestinian state. But the so-called Palestinian refugees have the “right” to return and settle in the Jewish state .Now., it is not God who decides where His People should live but Copernicus's All Seeing sun god who decides where his people, i.e. Palestinians should live.

The modern version of the ideology of the British Empire which has been broadened to include the US as a principal was outlined by C. From that policy flowed the greatest tragedy ever to befall a single people in written history – and perhaps not-unrelated decline of British power. The 1939 White Paper defined the official attitude of the United Nations toward the Holocaust as it was expressed even before the ill-famous Bermuda Conference in 1943. In 1943 British officials expressed their fears to the State Department that Germany might “change over from a policy of extermination to one of extrusion and aim at embarrassing other countries by flooding them with alien immigrants.”

Karski was prescient in his report The Jewish Problem in Poland Under the Occupation. He presented his observation to the government-in-exile while it was still in France, where he arrived as one of the earliest couriers of the Polish underground, during the first winter of the war:

Nazi policies toward the Jews found support in “a broad segment of Polish society,” Karski warned. With all the hatred that the German occupiers evoke in Poland, “this issue constituted a sort of narrow bridge where the Germans and a large part of Polish society meet in harmony.” Such circumstances, Karski continued, could “result in the demoralization of large strata of Polish society, which would create many difficulties for the future authorities of the Polish state undertaking its difficult reconstruction.” “To take a neutral attitude toward this state of affairs,” he wrote in the concluding section, “might bring the demoralization of Polish society (mostly of its lower strata) and all the dangers following from only partial, perhaps, but in many cases genuine agreement between the occupier and a large segment of the Poles.”

All the passages and all the conclusions of Karski's report, were suppressed by his superiors. He was ordered to rewrite them in a way that covered up the intensity of Polish Jewish antagonism before the report was translated into English and French, so that Allied governments would not learn the truth.” It is doubtful that the Allies were fooled by this deception, but most certainly Karski's recommendations were ignored by the Polish government. To accept them would have required it to take a series of forceful and forward-looking political steps, which would have to run counter to sentiments prevailing among the Polish public. After all, even gestures as timid as official greetings on the occasion of the Jewish New Year were rebuffed in the homeland.

The manuscript of Karski's report can be found in the Hoover Institution archives in California (Stanislaw Mikolajczyk Collection, box 12) with handwritten inscriptions across the cover page: (“Attention!! Pages 6+9+10+11 have double pages.” Indeed, the double pages (6a,9a, 10a and 11a) were carefully prepared. They begin and exactly in the same place (once including a hyphenated word), for easy substitution. Karski was instructed, as he told me when I queried him about the document, to draft a sanitized version, omitting his description of the anti-Semitism prevailing in Polish society, by Prof. Stanislaw Kot, a close confidant of then prime minister W. Sikorski, Polish raison d'etat vis-a-vis the Allies required that the matter be covered up, he was told. Karski's report was found in the archives by David Engel and published in Jewish Social Studies, vol. XLV, no. 1 (Winter 1983) (177)

In the “situational Report” for the period November 15, 1941, through June 1, 1942 (that is, in the middle of the bloodiest phase of Nazi killings of the Jews), the bureau of Information and Propaganda of the Home Army thus assessed the attitude of Polish society toward “national minorities” (“Nastroje spoleczenstwa. Stosunek do mniejszosci narodowych”). Bestiality toward the Jews generates compassion and condemnation of Hitlerite methods. Anti-Semitic attitudes are becoming less violent. But the desire for a quick solution of the Jewish question after the war – through voluntary or compulsory emigration of Jewish masses – is universal.” (Jan T. Gross. Freya Stark to Undermine the Karski's Mission:
Polish or Anglo-American Death Camps?

*In the middle of the war, the British government sent Freya Stark (During World War II, she joined the Ministry of Information and contributed to the creation of a propaganda network aimed at persuading Arabs to support the Allies or at least remain neutral) , a pro-Arab archaeologist and author, on extensive lecture tour of the U.S. Her mission was to build American support for British policies, especially for those regarding Palestine. In other words, her mission was to logjam and undermine Polish emissary Karski's mission seeking political help of the Allies in in rescuing Jews from the exterminating policy of the Nazis. Miss Stark, a non-Jew, was impressed by the amount of anti-Semitism she ran across among well-to-do, well-educated Americans. Her activities were foreshadowed by a Nazi propaganda film Erbkrank.

In 1936, Laughlin purchased an English version of the move Erbkrank (Hereditary Defective), an important sterilization propaganda film of the racial Political Office of the Nazi Party, in order to show it at the Carnegie Institution in Washington. Erbkrank, which the Nazi censor administration evaluated as “national policy valuable”, and which received “the particular acknowledgment of the Fuehrer, “was the basis of a large propaganda campaign in Germany.

Although the film propagated the notion that Jews were particularly susceptible to mental retardation and moral deviancy, Laughlin asserted in Eugenic News that the picture contained “no racial propaganda of any sort.”

Draper and the Pioneer Fund undertook to finance the distribution of the Nazi movie. In cooperation with the Eugenics Research Association, the Eugenics Record Office sent a flier advertising the film to biology teachers in 3,000 high schools. The Pioneer Fund, the Eugenics Record Office, and the Eugenics Research Association anticipated a favorable response because of the attractive medium and the low cost to viewers. The movie played twenty-eight times between March 15, 1937 and December 10, 1938.

Dr. L. M. Birkhead, a Protestant clergyman and close observer of anti-Semitic trends, traveled through the Midwest in 1943. He found vicious anti-Jewish attitudes rampant not only among extremist groups, but also in the “best circles.” The respectable elements, he thought, would probably not support violence, but neither would they oppose it. It was during the war, too, that anti-Jewish hatreds that had been sown and nurtured for years ripened into some extremely bitter fruits. In 1943 British officials expressed their fears to the State Department that Germany might “change over from a policy of extermination to one of extrusion and aim at embarrassing other countries by flooding them with alien immigrants.” In 1944 both British and American officials worried that “Germans might play the card of offering an unmanageable number of refugees to the UN.” The fate of Jewish people was thus sealed. The Jewish cause still had formidable foes in Washington; for example, Gen. George C. Marshall, the Chief of Staff of the Army and a powerful figure in the capital, was able to kill a proposed Senate resolution in 1944 favoring free emigration to Palestine in order to promote “a free and democratic Jewish commonwealth” when he cited military problems it would cause in the Middle East. Later, Marshall would oppose the creation of a Jewish state altogether.

In an editorial A Dwarf Between Giants in the Chicago Tribune of Sunday Feb. 6, 1944, appears a statement that the British Foreign Office has generally run America’s foreign affairs for fifty years, and that for the past eleven years the British have had no difficulty in guiding our policy.

In 1944 both British and American officials worried that “Germans might play the card of offering an unmanageable number of refugees to the UN.” The fate of Jewish people was thus sealed. After the war, pressure on US President Truman resulted in his timid appeal to the British government in 1945 to admit 100,000 Jewish refugees from Europe into Palestine. The British responded by inviting the US to participate in an Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry into the whole Palestinian situation. The Committee in its 1946 report agreed that Palestine could absorb 100,000 more Jews from the camps of Europe but rejected both partition and independence. (Encyclopedia Americana ed. 2001). Now, suddenly, there is enough room for 3 million Palestinians in Israel! And they accept partition! The British Empire wants to regain its Palestine Mandate!

During WWII the people in the State Department who were most closely associated with the rescue of Jews were Assistant Secretary Breckenridge Long and several middle-level officials. They included George Brandt, Long’s executive assistant, James Dunn and Wallace Murray, departmental advisers on political relations, Ray Atherton, acting chief of the Division of European Affairs, Howard Travers, chief of the Visa Division, and a number of lesser officers, especially R. Borden Reams. These men were indifferent to the tragedy of the European Jews. Randolph Paul of the Treasury Department described them as an American “underground movement…to let the Jews be killed.” That was confirmed by an eighteen-page memorandum on State Department obstruction entitled Report to the Secretary (of Treasury) on the Acquiescence of This Government in the Murder of the Jews. Led by DuBois, the Foreign Funds Control staff prepared this searing indictment, which charged that the State Department was “guilty not only of gross procrastination and willful failure to act, but even of willful attempts to prevent action from being taken to rescue Jews from Hitler.

The Polish delegate to the UN, Drohojewski said on May 11, 1949:

“It was not long since the British Foreign Office had tried and failed to prevent the creation of Israel. United Kingdom and US diplomacy had been ready to betray the new State before its birth. The US Government’s change of policy with regard to Israel had occurred for reasons of political expediency divorced from any sense of justice or faith in Israel’s future. That should not be forgotten…”

Let me remind here that the Nuremberg Trial Indictment prepared by the four big powers (presently known as the Quartet) had been sharply attacked in July of the same year by the Polish, governmental organ Rzeczpospolita which blamed the US, the UK, the Soviet Union and France for trivialization of the crime of genocide committed on the Jewish people. The war-time policy of the United Nations is still reflected in the Encyclopedia Americana; the entry Nuremberg War Crimes Trials does not simply mention the Jewish victims of the Nazi genocide; it universalizes the Jewish Holocaust as "crimes against humanity." And yet the Wannsee Conference was not about humanity, but about Jews!

During a recent appearance sponsored by the Simon Wiesenthal Center, the Harvard Law School professor A. Dershowitz asked American Jews “to undertake an aggressive information offensive if they are to prevent a dangerous wave of worldwide Antisemitism from infecting the minds of the next generation of US leaders. Dershowitz said the “megaphone effect for anti-Israel, anti-Zionist speech” on campuses like Harvard is so pervasive that even many Jewish professors with tenure have been afraid to speak out against it. Recently, he got a call from a professor who whispered to him, “Thanks for speaking up.” Dershowitz said the call from this academic, who urged the attorney not to identify him as a supporter of Israel, is nothing out of the ordinary. “(The situation at universities) has become so bad,” Dershowitz lamented, “that a Jewish student told me he was afraid to speak up for Israel because if he is perceived as a Zionist, he won’t be able to get dates.” Dershowitz called France “the lavatory of Antisemitism.” – “God cursed those who are the sons of Israel…Those people, God made monkeys and pigs.” (Sami Al-Arian; Fired from tenured position at University of South Florida). What bitter fruits will this hate ripen into?

Why Do They Hate FM Lieberman so much?

The commander of the Home Army, Gen. Stefan Rowecki, in a well-known dispatch to the government-in-exile in London dated September 25, 1941, framed the issue as follows:

I report that all decisions and declarations of the Government (in London) and members of the National Council about Jews in Poland evoke the worst possible impression in the country. They really facilitate unfriendly, indeed inimical, anti government propaganda. This applies to the “Day of the Jews” (Dzien Zydostwa, an official seminar held in London and attended by members of the government and the National Council), to the speech by Schwarzbart (a moderate Zionist who was a Jewish representative on the National Council), to the nomination of Lieberman (a well-known lawyer, a Pole of Jewish origin appointed minister of justice in London), and to the official greetings (published and broadcast over the radio to occupied Poland) on the occasion of the Jewish New Year. Please accept it as a fact that the overwhelming majority of the country is anti-Semitic. Even the Socialists are not an exception. There are only differences about tactics. Almost nobody recommends emulating German methods. These methods evoked felings of compassion, which diminished after the two occupations were unified (that is, after the Germans invaded Russia) and people got acquainted with Jewish behavior in the east.

Lieberman: I Have No Regrets

(Israelnationalnews.com) As police announced plans to indict him for bribery, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said he has no regrets. “I am at peace with everything that I have done. If I had the chance to do things over, I would do it all the same way,” he said, in a meeting of the Constitution, Law and Justice committee.

Lieberman expressed no concern over the possibility that he will be indicted. On the contrary, the Yisrael Beiteinu (Israel Our Home) head said he was happy. “I am glad that after many efforts, and the Supreme Court petition I filed, the investigation has finally reached a conclusion,” he said. Earlier this year Lieberman filed a court case against police for allegedly dragging out an investigation into his affairs for more than a decade (!).

Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture... In 1984, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure (of sex, for instance. In short, Orwell feared that what we hate will ruin us. Reassessing A. Hitler’s Artistic Genius

William College Museum of Art in the United States sponsored an exhibition entitled Prelude to a Nightmare: Art, Politics, and Hitler’s Early Years in Vienna, 1906-13.The curator of the exhibit, Deborah Rotschild (naturally, to make it more credible!) stated that Hitler “was fueled not by the usual political motives but by the aesthetic ambition to ‘beautify the world.’

The columnist in the Wall Street Journal noted: “She not only turned history on its head but turned the heads of some art critics to the extent that they took Ms. Rotschild’s eccentric thesis far beyond what she ever intended. Thus, some art critics suggested “adding Hitler to the list of the great artists of the 20th Century;” that “Nazism was a program to remodel (sic) the world according to a certain taste.” (Actually, the Nazis were to remodel the world according to the taste of a certain Hermann Ahlwardt as expressed in his book Der Verzweiflungskampf der arischen Voelker mit den Judentum (The Desperate Struggle of the Aryan Peoples with Jewry), which was inspired by the ideas of Anglo-Israelitism.
The New York Times praised the show for its wealth of fascinating material. “Ms. Rotschild suggested that Hitler exterminated the Jews because their physical appearance offended his sensibilities,” wrote the Wall Street Journal. Apparently, there is no greater crime that the victim can perpetrate on his killer than “offending his artistic sensibilities.” Keep in mind that A. Hitler’s favorite piece of art was Leda with Swan in front of which he used to stand for hours in the Berlin Museum. A. Hitler was a gay.

Berel Wein in his paper Aesthetic Adolf for The Jewish Herald commented on this exhibition as follows: “Apparently all that we are missing is a little Wagner in our lives, and an appreciation of Hitler’s true desire to beautify the world. Ah, if we only had that, all problems, disputes and violence would waft away on the wings of stirring music and kitsch watercolors. However, in the real world that we are forced to live in, exhibitions of Hitler’s watercolors only encourage the activities of the neo-Nazi skinheads and Palestinian terrorists who proliferate in Western society. Blaming the IDF for all imagined wrongs in our current struggle only encourages the Hamas bombers. Get real guys! The Hague Court is not going to indict Ismail Haniya ever, no matter what! They are only after us, because we are not, and never have been acceptable to Nordic and/or Aryan latent and over anti-Semitic “tastes.” These supermen only wish to “beautify the world,” and we are not aesthetically beautiful enough in their eyes to justify our existence as a nation, a state, or even as a faith.” I guess this artistic “genius” would send to crematoria all obese people, including Americans, to preserve the aesthetic genes of the Aryan World.

Was the president really wrong when he called the British establishment ‘deeply pro-Arab’ partly due to anti-Semitic dispositions?

Shimon Peres, Israel’s 87-year-old president doesn’t usually arouse antagonism among Europeans.

A tireless peace advocate for decades, and architect of the Oslo Process for which he received the Nobel Peace Prize, he has long presented Israel’s moderate face to the outside world.

Yet last week he provoked anger among British politicians and Anglo- Jewish leaders when he told a Jewish website that the British establishment had always been “deeply pro- Arab ... and anti-Israel,” and that this was partly due to endemic anti- Semitic dispositions. “I can understand Mr. Peres’ concerns, but I don’t recognize what he is saying about England,” said James Clappison, vice-chairman of Conservative Friends of Israel. “Things are certainly no worse, as far as Israel is concerned, in this country than other European countries. He got it wrong.”

But did he? While few arguments have resonated more widely, or among a more diverse set of observers, than the claim that Britain has been the midwife of the Jewish state, the truth is that no sooner had Britain been appointed as the mandatory power in Palestine, with the explicit task of facilitating the establishment of a Jewish national home in the country in accordance with the Balfour Declaration, than it reneged on this obligation.

AS EARLY as March 1921, the British government severed the vast and sparsely populated territory east of the Jordan River (“Transjordan”) from the prospective Jewish national home and made Abdullah, the emir of Mecca, its effective ruler. In 1922 and 1930, two British White Papers limited Jewish immigration to Palestine – the elixir of life of the prospective Jewish state – and imposed harsh restrictions on land sales to Jews.

Britain’s betrayal of its international obligations to the Jewish national cause reached its peak on May 17, 1939, when a new White Paper imposed draconian restrictions on land sales to Jews and limited immigration to 75,000 over the next five years, after which Palestine would become an independent state in which the Jews would comprise no more than one-third of the total population.

Such were the anti-Zionist sentiments within the British establishment at the time that even a life-long admirer of Zionism like prime minister Winston Churchill rarely used his wartime dominance of British politics to help the Zionists (or indeed European Jewry). However appalled by the White Paper he failed to abolish this “low grade gasp of a defeatist hour” (to use his own words), refrained from confronting his generals and bureaucrats over the creation of a Jewish fighting force in Palestine, which he wholeheartedly supported, and gave British officialdom a free rein in the running of Middle Eastern affairs, which they readily exploited to promote the Arab case. In 1943, for instance, Freya Stark, the acclaimed author, orientalist, and Arabian adventurer, was sent to the US on a seven-month propaganda campaign aimed at undercutting the Zionist cause and defending Britain’s White Paper policy.

That this could happen at the height of the Nazi extermination of European Jewry of which Whitehall was keenly aware offered a stark demonstration of the mindset of British officialdom, which was less interested in stopping genocide than in preventing its potential survivors from reaching Palestine after the war.

So much so that senior Foreign Office members portrayed Britain, not Europe’s Jews, as the main victim of the Nazi atrocities.

THIS ANTI-ZIONISM was sustained into the postwar years as the Labor Party, which in July 1945 swept to power in a landslide electoral victory, swiftly abandoned its pre-election pro-Zionist platform to become a bitter enemy of the Jewish national cause. The White Paper restrictions were kept in place, and the Jews were advised by Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin not “to get too much at the head of the queue” in seeking recourse to their problems.

Tens of thousands of Holocaust survivors who chose to ignore the warning and to run the British naval blockade were herded into congested camps in Cyprus, where they were incarcerated for years.

“Should we accept the view that all the Jews or the bulk of them must leave Germany?” Bevin rhetorically asked the British ambassador to Washington.

“I do not accept that view. They have gone through, it is true, the most terrible massacre and persecution, but on the other hand they have got through it and a number have survived.”

Prime Minister Clement Attlee went a step further by comparing Holocaust survivors wishing to leave Europe and to return to their ancestral homeland to Nazi troops invading the continent.

While these utterances resonated with the pervasive anti-Semitism within British officialdom (the last high commissioner for Palestine, General Sir Alan Cunningham, for instance, said of Zionism, “The forces of nationalism are accompanied by the psychology of the Jew, which it is important to recognize as something quite abnormal and unresponsive to rational treatment”), Britain’s Middle Eastern policy also reflected the basic fact that as occupiers of vast territories endowed with natural resources (first and foremost oil) and sitting astride strategic waterways (e.g., the Suez Canal), the Arabs had always been far more meaningful for British interests than the Jews.

As the chief of the air staff told the British cabinet in 1947, “If one of the two communities had to be antagonized, it was preferable, from the purely military angle, that a solution should be found which did not involve the continuing hostility of the Arabs.”

One needs look no further than David Cameron’s statements on the Middle East to see this anti-Israel mindset is alive and kicking. In the summer of 2006, when thousands of Hizbullah missiles were battering Israel’s cities and villages, he took the trouble of issuing a statement from the tropical island on which he was vacationing at the time condemning Israel’s “disproportionate use of force."Four years later, while on an official visit to Turkey, he went out of his way to placate his Islamist host, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, by criticizing Israel’s efforts to prevent the arming of the Hamas Islamist group, which, like its Lebanese counterpart, had been lobbing thousands of missiles on Israel’s civilian population for years.

Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.

Facing Trial in Germany

Poland to Extradite Alleged Mossad Agent

Uri Brodsky is accused of helping a Mossad agent secure a German passport for use in the alleged murder of a Hamas official in Dubai. On Thursday a Polish court ruled that he could be extradited to Germany. But legal complications mean he may just be facing a fine.

It sounded like good news at first: A Polish appeals court on Thursday ruled that a man who is suspected of helping a Mossad agent can be extradited to Germany.
The Warsaw appeals court upheld the decision by a lower court that Poland is to hand over Uri Brodsky, who is accused of helping a Mossad agent to secure a German passport. The passort was allegedly used in connection with the murder of a Hamas official in Dubai in January.

But there is a snag. The German government, as well as the judiciary, has serious doubts about whether Brodsky can be charged with espionage. It is likely that the suspect could come away with a mild sentence for a much lesser charge.
The extradition to Germany is likely to take place soon. A spokesman for the court told SPIEGEL ONLINE shortly after the decision that it could happen within the next 10 days and that the date depended on the German authorities. The spokesman emphasized that from now on the ball was firmly in the German legal system's court. "The case is closed for us," he said.

Spectacular Mossad Plot

The decision on this highly political case was awaited with great anticipation. Brodsky is accused of helping an Israeli intelligence agent when he applied for and received a German passport in Cologne in the spring of 2009, using a sham story about his father being a victim of the Nazi regime. The agent later travelled with the documents to Dubai under the assumed name of Michael Bodenheimer. Once there, he took part in the most spectacular Mossad murder plot of recent times.

The Mossad operation in Dubai was also the world-famous intelligence agency's biggest flop. The team, disguised as tourists, managed to kill their target, Hamas functionary Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, on Jan. 19. But the police quickly uncovered the plot and even published the CC-TV images of the suspects. The fact that the agents used European passports has not only soured Israel's relations with Germany, but also with several other countries.

Despite the extradition, the German government and judiciary are faced with an uncomfortable problem. They may not be able to charge the suspect with espionage. The Polish authorities are only extraditing Brodsky on charges of forgery, relating to his having provided false information when applying for his passport in Cologne. Legally he may only be charged with that offence in Germany.

The decision is a bitter defeat for the German authorities. Neither the German Justice Ministry nor the Federal Prosecutor's Office were willing to make an official comment after the ruling. "We first of all have to have the decision in writing before us," the spokesman for the prosecutor's office told SPIEGEL ONLINE. The message from the ministry in Berlin was the same.

Just One of Many Aliases

The fact that Brodsky is only being charged with forgery means that the Federal Prosecutor's Office will have to cede authority over the case to the prosecutor's office in Cologne. The charge of "indirect false certification" and the acquisition of a passport by false pretenses would only carry a maximum of a fine.
Even that slight penalty is uncertain. The German authorities are not sure who exactly the suspect is. They are working on the assumption that the man arrest in Poland on June 4 with an Israeli passport is Brodsky. But they further assume that Uri Brodsky is just one of his many aliases.

The Israeli government, on the other hand, will be delighted. An espionage trial in Germany of all places would put the embarrassing Mossad assassination back in the headlines. The targeted killings of Hamas functionaries is uncontroversial in Israel. Yet the government is eager to avoid further attention on the Mossad's bumbling attack in Dubai.

The aftermath in Germany, however, might be just as embarrassing. Many will wonder how a suspect in a murder case can escape with just a fine.

Saudi Columnist Condemns Sympathy for Hitler in the Arab World

In an article in the Saudi daily Al-Watan, liberal columnist Iman Al-Quwaifli criticized the phenomenon of sympathy for Adolf Hitler and for Nazism in the Arab world. She pointed out that sympathy for Hitler takes two forms: popular admiration for him as a strong leader who was "more powerful than the Jews," and sympathy cloaked in intellectual terms, such as the pseudo-scientific argument that truth is a fluid concept and history is written by the victors. She wrote that the latter kind of argument is a travesty of true scientific thinking, and that sympathy for Hitler contravenes Islamic and Arab values.

An example of admiration for Hitler in today's Arab world can be seen in a talk show recently aired on the Egyptian channel Al-Nas, where Egyptian cleric Hussam Fawzi Jabar justified Hitler's actions against the Jews.[1]
Following are excerpts from Al-Quwaifli's article:[2]
"Those Who Wave the Slogan 'History Is Written by the Victors' Do Not Bother to Find Out the Truth about Hitler"

"The Arabs' enthusiasm for Hitler during World War II was understandable. In that period, they were [living] under British or French occupation, or, in the better case, under mandatory rule, and it seemed like a victory by Hitler and the Axis was the only way to get rid of the British and French. Slogans like 'Allah hai, Allah hai, Hajj Muhammad Hitler jai' ['Allah lives, Allah lives, Hajj Muhammad Hitler is coming']... presented Hitler as a Muslim. Though applying the name 'Hajj Muhammad' to Hitler is ludicrous, the Arabs' aspirations [at the time] were understandable, especially assuming that they were ignorant of the Nazi philosophy and its implications. But what is not understandable, and must not be accepted, is Arab sympathy for Hitler that persists to this very day, based on various justifications.
"Contemporary sympathy for Hitler is of two kinds: First, there is popular sympathy, [fueled by the Arabs'] present hardships, [which cause them to be] impressed [by the fact] that there used to be someone more powerful than the Jews. This sympathy is manifest in support for dictators like Hitler, Stalin, and Mao, who are perceived as models of achievement, constructivism and discipline imposed at all costs.
"The other kind of sympathy, which is more significant, involves exonerating Nazism in the guise of a cultured, scientific [debate]. [The proponents of this stance] take a critical approach to knowledge and history, arguing that 'history is written by the victors,' and questioning Hitler's image as an icon [of evil]. This pseudo-scientific approach is weak and thin, and has nothing to do with [real] scientific [thinking]. Those who wave the slogan 'history is written by the victors' do not bother to find out the truth about Hitler by reading histories – neither those written by the victors nor those written by critical thinkers who do not belong to the imperialistic West that won [WWII]."

To support her view, Al-Quwaifli presented three thinkers – Edward Sa'id, Tzvetan Todorov, and Eric Hobsbawm – who do not belong to the Western mainstream, but nevertheless acknowledge the Holocaust and accuse Hitler of genocide. She also responded to the claim Hitler hated Jews but liked and even admired the Arabs and Islam, saying: "There are strange and fantastic tales that associate Hitler with Arabs and even with Islam. [For instance, it is claimed] that he did not smoke or drink alcohol, and that he used to invite Muslim scholars in order to learn from them about the Companions of the Prophet. Some have even called him a modern najashi.[3] This [claim] does not hold water if you examine the basic principles of Nazism. [Moreover, Egyptian professor] 'Abd Al-Wahhab Al-Masri, in his book on secularism and in his encyclopedia of Judaism, regards Nazism as the pinnacle of Western materialism, whose ultimate authority is science and whose only goal is material gain. This cruel materialistic model is not compatible with the European religions, and certainly not with Islam and Arabism."

"The Glorification of Nazism and the Rejection of the 'Victors' History' Leads to the Disregard of Reality and to an Ideology of Hostility towards the West"
"Finally, there are also histories that were not written by the victors, [such as] the memoirs of Hajj Muhammad Amin Al-Husseini – a real hajj, [who was] mufti of Jerusalem. Forced to flee the British, who were the enemies of the Axis, he hid in Berlin during World War II. There are several photos of him in the company of Hitler and Himmler, and supporters of Nazism like to present them [as evidence of the pro-Arab orientation of these Nazi leaders]. However, Husseini himself wrote in his memoirs that Hitler never purported to like Arabs, and that nothing concerned him except for Germany's interests. In fact, Husseini doubted the sincerity of Hitler's promises to the Arabs, and expressed perplexity at the contradiction between these promises and the positions of the Axis countries. For example, Mussolini welcomed Husseini warmly and promised him to support the independence of the Arab countries, even while Italy was conquering Libya!

"What benefit can be gained from sympathy for Hitler? There are Israeli studies dedicated to proving the link between Nazism and Islam, [which evoke] the character of Hajj Amin Al-Husseini and [the fact that there were] Muslims who joined the German army. Any [fact that can be presented as] evidence for this link makes them happy. The problem is that focusing on Hitler as an individual slants one's perception [of the Nazi era], turning the [Nazi] dictatorship and tyranny into a secondary issue that can be tolerated on the grounds that this dictator hated the Jews and liked the Muslims, just as all the Arab dictators [today claim to] hate the Jews and like the Muslims [in order to justify their rule].

"Those who promote [the approach that] sympathizes with Hitler feel a deep connection to [their] Arab and Islamic identity, with all its traditional aspects. Therefore, they reject [the notion of] subjecting Islamic knowledge to criticism... This undermines their argument that 'history is written by the victors,' [because] Islamic history was [also] written by the victors, yet [these people] defensively reject any criticism against the Arab [accounts of] history. The glorification of Nazism and the rejection of the 'victors' history' leads to the disregard of reality and to an ideology of hostility towards the West, its history, and its ethos. Just out of spite, [the proponents of this view] turn the devils [of Western history] into angels, creating artificial conflicts.

"Sympathy for Hitler turns history in our minds into an imaginary farce in which characters wear masks that contradict the historical truth, and in which good figures wear masks of evil... Historical knowledge thus loses its rational character and becomes fluid, without any center or [sense of] solid truth. In this imaginary, fluid, topsy-turvy world, any historical truth can be denied, and any imaginary [fact] can be proven – just as a person in a pipe-dream can create any world he wants, as his fancy takes him, and just as the dervishes do when they whirl around, crying 'Allah hai, Allah hai, Hajj Muhammad Hitler jai.'"

Ex-CIAers to Obama: Israel Might Attack Iran This Month

A group of CIA former officials warns U.S. President Obama that Israel might attack Iran “even within a month,” and that Obama bears responsibility for having praised Netanyahu.

“We write to alert you to the likelihood that Israel will attack Iran as early as this month,” the open letter to Obama begins. “This would likely lead to a wider war.”
The letter, issued on Tuesday by the anti-Iraqi-war VIPS (Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity), continues:

“Israel’s leaders would calculate that once the battle is joined, it will be politically untenable for you to give anything less than unstinting support to Israel, no matter how the war started, and that U.S. troops and weaponry would flow freely. Wider war could eventually result in the destruction of the state of Israel.

“This can be stopped, but only if you move quickly to pre-empt an Israeli attack by publicly condemning such a move before it happens.” [emphasis in the original]
This is only the second memo VIPS has issued. In February 2003, it released a document criticizing then-U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell's famous speech before the United Nations, in which he made the case for war against Iraq by presenting the evidence of Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction.
Jerusalem Building Projects and the Iran Problem
The letter is distinctly anti-Israel. Its writers - W. Patrick Lang, Larry Johnson, and Ray McGovern, among others – mock Obama for having expressed confidence that Netanyahu would not try to surprise the United States.

“You may wish to ask Vice President Biden to remind you of the kind of surprises he has encountered in Israel,” the letter states – implying that the announcement of progress in a Jerusalem housing project without informing the visiting Biden beforehand is equivalent to a surprise attack on Iraq.%ad%

“Blindsiding has long been an arrow in Israel’s quiver,” the CIA veterans write, going back to 1967 to accuse Israel of “feign[ing] fear of an imminent Arab attack as justification for starting [the Six Day War] war to seize and occupy Arab territories.” Then-Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser’s closure of the Straits of Tiran, his frequent calls to “throw Israel into the sea,” and his amassing of 1,000 tanks and nearly 100,000 soldiers on the Israeli border are overlooked in the memorandum, as are the signing of a Jordanian-Egyptian defense pact and Iraqi deployment in Jordan of troops and tanks at Jordan’s invitation a week before war broke out. Forgotten, as well, was the Egyptian Army’s Order of the Day two days before the war plugging "Holy War" and the re-conquest of "the plundered soil of Palestine."

The letter notes that Congress has implied support of Israel in case of an Israeli attack, but that “a strong public statement by you [Obama], personally warning Israel not to attack Iran would most probably head off such an Israeli move.”
Regime Change

The memorandum states that Israel is motivated not by fear of Iranian nuclear power, which it actually has reason to believe that it need not fear, but simply by the desire for “regime change” in Iran.

It accuses Netanyahu of having a “contemptuous attitude toward” the United States, and at having learned this from Menachem Begin and Ariel Sharon.
“One would be well advised,” the VIPS letter states, “to greet with appropriate skepticism any private assurances Netanyahu may have given you that Israel would not surprise you with an attack on Iran.”

Terrorism Under the Guise of a University?

(Israelnationalnews.com) A university in the United States has recently been the subject of Internet blogs due to the disturbing information it provides on its website.

As reported on Pamela Geller’s blog “Atlas Shrugs” on Sunday, the San Antonio, Texas chapter of the Muslim American Society also runs a university called the Islamic American University, which is one if its main projects. Yet an examination of the university’s website has uncovered the following definition of its goals: “The Islamic American University is an institution for education, training, Da'wa and studies in the fields of Islamic Shari'a, its fundamentals, linguistics, and sciences.”

Shari’a law is the sacred Islamic law which includes some very strict behavioral rules, particularly towards women. Under Shari’a Law, for example, wives cannot obtain a divorce even if they are abused by their husbands. The law also allows a Muslim man to marry a child as young as 1 year old and to consummate the marriage by age 9. A woman is considered to be a slave to her husband under Shari’a law, can be beaten by her husband at his will, and all the while her husband is permitted to have 4 wives and a temporary wife for a limited period at his discretion.
Hamas, who controls the Gaza Strip, has implemented Shari’a law in the Strip, including the enforcement of a dress code for women on the street, in schools and in the courts, expulsion from schools of female students who do not wear a head covering and wide dresses, a requirement that women announcers on television must wear a veil and that Islamic content must be featured in television programs, and police arresting immodestly clad women and enforcing gender separation, to name a few. Rules implemented by Hamas in the past month have included prohibiting women and teenagers from smoking hookahs in public, and removing dressing rooms from women's clothing stores.

Da’wa, another term mentioned on the university’s website, is the Islamic act of proselytizing, or convincing non-Muslims to convert to Islam.
Furthermore, the website goes on to say that “IAU aims at grooming distinguished scholars, activists, leaders, and teachers who are well-rounded in Islam as well as in the different facets of American life. The IAU board of trustees is headed by internationally renowned scholars such as Sheikh Yusuf al-Qardawi who serves as chairman and Dr. Jamal Badawi who serves as vice chairman.”
Geller’s blog explains that Qaradawi is a Muslim who is active in the Muslim Brotherhood, considered to be "the parent organization of Hamas and al-Qaeda." He has frequently justified Palestinian suicide bombings as legitimate responses to alleged “Zionist occupation”.

Qaradawi has expressed support for the anti-U.S. insurgency in Iraq and endorsed the kidnapping and murder of American civilians there. During the 2006 Israel-Lebanon war, he voiced support for Hizbullah. He has also been barred from entering the United States since 1999 due to his support for Palestinian terrorism, and in 2008, the United Kingdom also denied him a visa on grounds that he seeks “to justify any act of terrorist violence...”

Geller added that the Muslim Brotherhood “has infiltrated every agency and institution at the highest levels” in the United States and said that one of its goals as outlined in a document that was captured and entered into evidence in the Holy Land terror trial, is "eliminating and destroying western civilization from within" and forming one global Islamic state.

US Cuts Funding for Israeli Defense Systems

(Israelnationalnews.com) The United States has cut funding for Israel’s defense systems, even though a one-time grant appears to have raised the aid allocation.
The 2011 budget approved by Congress for the Arrow 3 program totaled $108.8 million. This included a White House request for $50.8 million, combined with another $58 million tacked on by the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense.
Last year’s allocation was considerably higher, the Globes business news service points out. The White House had budgeted $60 million, and Congress had added another $97.4 million, bringing the total appropriation for the program to $157.4 million.
A $205 million grant intended to fund a 10-unit battery of the Iron Dome system to protect Israel’s southern flank against short-range Kassam rocket attacks was announced by the White House in May, pushing up the total amount of defense aid received by the Jewish State.

The generous aid package, however, is predicted to be a one-time grant, while the Arrow 3 funding cuts may be permanent.

In addition, more permanent cuts may be on the way: the 2011 allocation for the Magic Wand system (also known as “David’s Sling”) – used to defend Israel against medium-range missile attacks – was $84.7 million. Last year’s budget was $134.7.
The Arrow 3 anti-missile system is intended to intercept and destroy long-range ballistic missiles, like the ones that could be fired at Israel from Iran.
One of the most advanced defense systems in existence, the Arrow 3 is being jointly funded and produced by Israel’s IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries) and the U.S.-based Boeing aerospace and defense contractor.

The former US President Bill Clinton feels that Russian immigrants and settlers in the Middle East are the main barrier in the way of reaching a settlement in the region. He told the Global Initiative conference in New York that Israel’s Russian-speaking population is the least interested in concluding an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement. The former US President complained that 16% of Israelis are Russian-speakers, which is a shocking problem, since they make Israel a different country.

The Prime Minister told the Cabinet Sunday morning, "I hear about two states, but I don't hear two peoples." In a press conference Friday, President Obama directly told reporters that Israel should meet Abbas' demand but ignored the Israeli demand, stated in a reporter's comment that “Abbas…said the Palestinians won’t recognize Israel as a Jewish state.” The reporter continued, “The question is, if these talks fail at an early stage, will this administration disengage? Or maybe you’re ready to step up and deepen your personal involvement.”
