Jews and the Colonial Policy of the Vatican on the Thames

In an editorial A Dwarf Between Giants in the Chicago Tribune of Sunday Feb. 6, 1944, appears a statement that the British Foreign Office has generally run America’s foreign affairs for fifty years, and that for the past eleven years the British have had no difficulty in guiding our policy. The modern version of the ideology of the British Empire which has been broadened to include the US as a principal was outlined by C. Rhodes about 1895 as follows: “Establish a secret society in order to have the whole continent of South America, the Holy Land, the Valley of the Euphrates …the Malay Archipelago, the seaboard of China and Japan and, finally, the US. In the end Great Britain is to establish a power so overwhelming that wars must cease and the Millenium be realized.”

The colored people of the British Empire, comprising 87% of the total population, are the voiceless subjects of the international financial oligarchy of The City in what is perhaps the most arbitrary and absolute form of government in the world. This international financial oligarchy uses the allegoric Crown as its symbol of power and has its headquarters in the ancient City of London, an area of 677 acres; which strangely in all the vast expanse of the 443,455 acres of Metropolitan London alone is not under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Police, but has its own private force of about 2,000 men, while its night population is under 9,000. This tiny area of a little over one square mile has in it the giant Bank of England (Cp. the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank), a privately owned institution; which is not subject to regulation by the British Parliament, and is in effect a sovereign world power. Within the City are located also the Stock Exchange and many institutions of world-wide scope. The City carries on its business of local government with a fanciful display of pompous medieval ceremony and with its officers attired in grotesque ancient costumes (Cp. The Papal Swiss Guard). Its voting power is vested in secret guilds with names of long extinct crafts such as the Mercers, Grocers, Fishmongers, Skinners, Vintners, etc. All this trivial pomp and absurdity and horse-play seems to serve very well to blind the eyes of the public to the big things going on behind the scenes; for the late Vincent Cartwright Vickers, once Deputy-Lieutenant of the City, a director of the great British armament firm of Vickers, Ltd., and a director of the bank of England from 1910 to 1919, in his Economic Tribulation published 1940, lays the wars of the world on the door-step of the City. The Laws of England by the Earl of Halsbury, recurrent Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain between the years 1885 and 1905, published in 1909, a massive work of over 30 huge volumes, states in Vol. 21, page 618, note k: “There is no rule of law which compels a Ministry which has lost the confidence of the House of Commons to resign office….In Vol. 6, page 388, art 582: The Crown is therefore a necessary party to legislation, and neither House of Parliament, whether acting alone or in conjunction with the other House, has a power of legislation without the Crown…The Sovereign is regarded in the law as being incapable of thinking wrong, or meaning to do an improper act. In other words, he is infallible like a Roman Pope or a Russian Czar! An act of the Crown is not subject to question in the Parliament, as the “King Can Do No Wrong.” Apart from legislative authority, which is vested in Parliament subject to certain concurrent rights of the Crown, the law of the constitution clothes the person of the Sovereign with supreme Sovereignty and pre-eminence.”

In 1831 Muhammad Ali, a young Macedonian Muslim of the same age as Napoleon occupied with his Egyptian army Palestine, Syria and a portion of southern Anatolia. Many of the Egyptians remained in the country even after the Turkish reconquest in 1840. The French scholar Mohammed Sabry wrote: “In 1831 over six thousand fellahin crossed the Egyptian border and Abdallah (governor of Acre) refused to return them.” Muhammad Ali continued to bring settlers from Egypt to Palestine. Most of the city of Jaffa, according to an 1878 British Palestine Exploration Society map of the area, was made up of Egyptian neighborhoods. The Egyptians established eight villages on the coastal plain, not far from the spot where Tel Aviv was to be established, 50 years later. Egyptians also inhabited the villages of Zarnuga, Kubeibeh, and Qatra (later Gedera) in the south. The historian DeHaas reports that “Ibrahim Pasha, who left Palestine in 1941, had left behind him permanent Egyptian colonies at Beisan, Nablus,Irbid, Acre, and Jaffa, where some 500 Egyptian soldiers’ families established a new quarter.

“A Study of Jewish, Arab, and British Policies” published by Yale University quotes the German jurist Ernst Frankenstein who wrote: “The present-day inhabitants of Palestine are not in the main the descendants of the ancient inhabitants of the land, nor are they predominantly the descendants of the Arab conquerors of Palestine in the 7th century…Of the Arabs living in Palestine at the beginning of the first World War, no small proportion had immigrated from neighboring countries since 1882. Frankenstein’s calculations led him to believe that only some 228,000 descendants of the 1882 Moslem settled population were living in Palestine at the outbreak of WWII….In other words, 75% of the Arab population of Palestine are either immigrants themselves or descendants of persons who immigrated into Palestine during the last hundred years, for the most part after 1882.”

Lord Palmerston, the architect of British 19th century policy regretted that Palestine, the very hinge of the new Egyptian Empire, contained no suitable minority, whose protection Britain could undertake as a pretext for evicting the Egyptians. Since there was no protectable minority in Palestine, Palmerston wondered if it might not be possible to inject one. Could Jewish nostalgia for the Holy Land, perhaps, be used in Britain’s interest? Having ascertained from the British vice-consul that there were already ten thousand Jews living in Palestine, Palmerston next wrote to the British ambassador in Constantinople: “It would be of manifest importance for the Sultan to encourage the Jews to return to, and settle in Palestine; because the wealth which they would bring with them would increase the resources of the Sultan’s dominions; and the Jewish people, if returning under the sanction and protection and at the invitation of the Sultan, would be a check upon any future evil designs of Muhammad Ali or his successors.”

Palestine guaranteed the eastern approaches to the Suez Canal. A Jewish Palestine dependent on Britain would be a counterweight to the ambitions of France and Russia, who both had clients in the eastern Mediterranean: the Russians patronized the Orthodox while since the days of Louis XIV the French had taken an interest in the Maronites of Mount Lebanon. Britain lacked a client minority, though it had, in Egypt, a client dynasty. Germany’s successful intrusion into the Middle East could prompt Great Britain to a counterthrust. If German influence dominated Constantinople, Britain would have a clear interest in killing off the empire she had long kept alive; this was the occasion under which the Zionists might get Palestine for nothing. By offering the Zionists something of what they wanted, Britain might get hold of Palestine. A Palestine under British control would safeguard the approaches to the Suez Canal and give access to that new target of the imperialists, Iraq.

Sir Henry McMahon, the first British high commissioner for Egypt wrote to Sharif Hussein of Mecca that, subject to three reservations, “Great Britain is prepared to recognize and support the independence of the Arabs in all the regions within the limits demanded by the Sharif of Mecca. Among these reservations were two that affected the later treatment of Palestine. The first excluded the “portions of Syria lying to the west of the districts of Damascus, Homs, Ham and Aleppo” on the grounds that they were not purely Arab, and the second excluded these regions where Britain’s freedom to act alone was limited by the “interests of her ally, France.”

Currently the weight of evidenced clearly supports the British contention that Palestine was not promised to the Arabs in 1915. First, in March 1916, Foreign Secretary Sir Edward Grey proposed to the French and Russian governments that the Allies offer the Jews “an arrangement in regard to Palestine completely satisfactory to Jewish aspirations,” a firm indication, even though the proposal came to nothing, that the secretary considered Palestine excluded from McMahon’s promise. Second, the De Bunsen Committee appointed in April 1915 to study British war aims in the Middle East, recommended in June that Palestine should be the subject of “special negotiations, in which both belligerents and neutrals are alike interested.” Thus the committee fully recognized that Britain was not free to act on Palestine without consulting French and Russian interests (Cf. the present so-called Quartet), and in the circumstances, a promise of Palestine to the Arabs would not have been contemplated.

The argument regarding 1915 is a very subtle one, and the ambiguity of Britain’s attitude toward Palestine did not decrease as the war progressed. In fact, the situation became much more difficult when, at the end of the war, Britain appeared to have the power to dispose of Palestine as it wished, in which case, the Arab argument is, Palestine should have reverted to the area of Arab independence. However, as will be seen, Britain was able to gain its way over Palestine only by using Zionism as a lever to force the French to give up their claims to the Holy Land. The Anglo-French Entente could stand – barely – the strain of fulfilling Zionism, whereas satisfying Arab aspirations might not have reconciled the French to the loss of their traditional goal.

The motivating force behind the dynamic changes in British policy in 1917 was supplied by Britain’s new Prime Minister, David Lloyd George. Within a few days of his taking power in Dec. 1916, preparations were begun for stepping up military activity in the Middle East and obtaining the support of Jewish world opinion for the Allied victory. On April 2, 1917, the cabinet approved a resolute forward policy in Palestine designed to sweep the Turks out of southern Palestine and take Jerusalem. On 3 April, as he was about to leave for Egypt to become the head of the political mission attached to Murray’s force, Mark Sykes received his instructions from Lloyd George and Lord Curzon, then lord president of the council. They stressed “the importance of not prejudicing the Zionist movement and the possibility of its development under British auspices. Sykes was specifically enjoined by the Prime Minister from entering into any political pledges to the Arabs, “and particularly none in regard to Palestine.” Any problems they expected would come from the French, not the Arabs, who “probably realized that there was no prospect of their being allowed any control over Palestine.”

The impending British invasion of Palestine combined with the decline of power in Russia opened the way to sharpened diplomatic conflict between Britain and France over the domination of Palestine. In appreciation of this fact, the British began moving from a position of tolerant interest in Zionism to one approaching commitment.

In April 1917, the Treaty of Saint-Jean de Maurienne was being concluded by Great Britain, France and Italy; its provisions called for an international administration for Palestine, (they postulate the same, presently) in confirmation of the 1916 agreement. At the same time the uncertainties over Russia in 1917 led to an official review of the 1916 agreement. On 12 April a Committee on Territorial Terms of Peace was set up under the chairmanship of Lord Curzon. The committee concluded on 28 April that the agreement had to be modified so that Palestine and Mesopotamia would be placed in the definite and exclusive control of Great Britain.

On 25 April 1917, Lord Robert Cecil told Weizmann that if the Zionists were to ask for a British Palestine, it would strengthen Britain’s hand in future negotiations. On 18 July the Zionists submitted to the government the invited draft declaration of British sympathy for Zionists aspirations. After much official discussion, at times very heated, the British government gave the Zionists their promise in the form of a letter from Foreign Secretary Balfour to Lord Rotschild. The statement authorized by the Cabinet amounted to only one sentence:

His Majesty’s Government view with favor the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavors to facilitate the achievement of this subject, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.

When Balfour Declaration had first been bruited in the Middle East King Hussein had demanded an explanation for what seemed a flat contradiction of the promises already made to him and the Arabs. Commander Hogarth, who also acted as father and spymaster to T.E. Lawrance, took an answer to Jeddah in early January 1918. Hogarth was authorized to state that “Jewish settlement in Palestine would only be allowed in so far as would be consistent with the political and economic freedom of the Arab population.” Only a month after Hogarth’s visit to Hussein, Pres. Wilson had put succinctly: “People are not to be handed about from one sovereignty to another by an international conference or an understanding between rivals and antagonists.”

Arab trust in British explanations was dynamited when the new Soviet Government published more startling evidence of Allied duplicity. The czarist archives contained the text of the Sykes-Picot Agreement, a project drawn up earlier in the year for the disposal of Ottoman territory between Britain, France, and Russia. Under this secret agreement czarist Russia was to have inherited Constantinople, the straits and a slice of Anatolia. The rest of the Ottoman Empire was to have been shared out in the old-fashioned imperial manner. As her reward for entering the war, Italy was to have received an area in southwest Anatolia as well as the Dodecanese Islands she had already seized. Britain and France were to share out what were considered the potentially wealthy parts of “Turkey in Asia”; France would get a swath of territory running from Cilicia in southern Anatolia as far as Mosul; Britain, a block of territory from the Mediterranean south of Lebanon running east to Iran. While the defeat of Germany and Austria-Hungary had served the Allied cause, the collapse of czarist Russia did not. The area to the east of Turkey – the Caucasian bridge between Russia and the Middle East – was a patchwork of tiny successor states clamoring for recognition. Balfour wrote in candor in August 1919, not envisaging for publication: “So far as Palestine is concerned, the Powers have made no statement of fact which is not admittedly wrong, and no declaration of policy which, at least in the letter, they have not always intended to violate.”

According to the Treaty of Sevres (1920), the straits were to be under international control. The Sultan lost all his Arab possessions, but not to the Arabs. Old King Hussein was to be conceded the Kingdom of the Hejaz, but Syria and Lebanon were to be mandates of France, Iraq and Palestine to be mandates of Britain. Britain thus gained control of the land bridge to India as well as the approaches to the Suez Canal, while France wrested Syria from Hussein’s son Feisal.

The Russian leaders condemned the terms of the Treaty of Sevres and on Aug. 14 diplomatic relations were established between Kemal’s government in Ankara and Lenin’s in Moscow. Russian supplies, shipped through the Black Sea port of Trabizon, began arriving in Sept. and would play a vital role in the coming two years of struggle. Russian diplomatic support was equally useful to Kemal, particularly because it helped to close a dangerous second front in the East. An Armenian republic under American auspices did not suit the Soviets. After some delays and several misunderstandings a deal between Kemal and the most realistic Bolshevik – Joseph Stalin – fixed frontiers between the USSR and Turkey on the same line as the old borders between Sultan and Czar. An area of the Caucasus would become the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic with its capital at Yerevan.

Egyptian independence of a kind arrived sooner than was expected. It was handed down in 1922 as the gift of the British acting on the advice of their High Commissioner. First Condition: Britain assumed the defense and control of the Suez Canal(The same policy is behind the independence of 'Palestine').This enabled her to prolong her partial occupation indefinitely, since to defend the waterway she needed an army on Egyptian soil; the presence of such an army meant the continued possibility of interference in Egyptian affairs. Second Condition: Britain undertook the defense of Egypt; Egyptian soldiers were thus reduced to being support battalions for a foreign army. Third Condition: Britain made herself responsible for the protection of minorities; besides casting doubts on Egypt’s good intentions toward her Christian and other minority groups, this gave further pretexts for intervention.

Thomas Mallison, a professor of law at George Washington University, DC observed: “The principle of self-determination was reflected in the provision of the League of Nations Covenant through the mandates system with the mandatory powers assuming “a sacred trust” to promote “the well being and development of such peoples.” How Great Britain was promoting “the well being and the development of the people of the Palestine Mandate? Fawaz Turki, a Palestinian publicist in his book The Disinherited: Journal of a Palestinian Exile (1972) describes how British soldiers handled “the Palestinian sacred trust”:

Our English soldier felt that since there were only Englishmen and one other species of humans populating the earth, he had carte blanche to act as he wished. If by beating up a ‘native’ he could ‘feel better’, than he was entitled to do it. He was not answerable for his act. Not in Palestine; not in India; not in Africa. If he ran over a child with his army jeep, so long as it was a’native’ child he need only reverse his vehicle and finish him off. (It happened to a cousin of mine). If he was being transported overland from his old base to another one across the country, on a tedious trip of long duration, then he could take his gun, aim it, and shoot to death a ‘native’ riding along on his mule, a ‘native’ working in his fields, a ‘native’ coming out of his hut. When this soldier returned home, to live again among his race of Englishmen (they belong to a “favoured race, remember), he would be chastised for kicking a dog, convicted in court for libeling a man, ostracized for indecent language.”

As you may recall, a certain noble Englishman proclaimed that the “unfit” of the earth are doomed. According to the first commandment of the Darwinian “Decalogue” the British soldiers took aim and according top the second commandment, pulled their triggers to purge the world of the “pleurisy of people”. The events were applauded. It was so scientific!! But these darn Orthodox scientists from Ben-Gurion University dismiss the theory of evolution as “speculation”, “secular dogma”, and “myth” while most of the scientists reaffirm their belief in divine creation.

On the evening of Feb. 28, 1852 British Egyptologist G. Gliddon delivered a lecture in the New Orleans Temple to Learning and Faith known as the Lyceum Hall. Through his studies of mummies, skeletons, and ancient art, Gliddon had become interested in the origins of racial differences, particularly those related to the Caucasoid and Negroid races. A strong supporter of slavery Gliddon argued that the “peculiar institution” of slavery had existed since the dawn of humankind, and was hence part of the natural order of things. He also suggested that God had deliberately created an inferior black race separately from a superior white race. Gliddon and his associates called this theory polygenism, and it played well in the South, particularly among local plantation owners. They craved for some kind of a divine sanction for their enslavement of black Africans, and Gliddon offered them one. He was helping to build the framework of the southern position for the Civil War. Interestingly, Gliddon saw parallels between the Deep South and ancient Egypt. “Negroes were numerous in Egypt,” he wrote, “but their social position in ancient times was the same as now, that of servants and slaves.” Recall Cicero sanctioning the Jews as a nation born to servitude.

The phrase “people of the sun” (Cf. Mt. 17:2) was used in Africa to refer to those Egyptian pharaohs who were light-skinned. The Aryan invaders in India avoided intermarriage to keep their racial identity intact and the Aryan pharaohs instituted royal incest to preserve the line of the sons of the sun-god dependent on the possession of “solar blood” that matches the ichor of the ethereal fluid supposed to flow in the veins of the gods of the classical mythology.

Balfour understood “race” in terms very similar to those of H.S. Chamberlain referred to as “the prophet of the Third Reich”. Certain of his references in a Cambridge lecture to “the alien and barbaric immigrants who became a source of weakness and peril to the Roman Empire” inspired the Nazi propaganda against mixed marriages. In a speculative dream on “The Possibility of an Anglo-Saxon Confederation” he was to exclude the dark continent from any place in his imagined future: it could never be the home of the white race and was already occupied by “many millions of an inferior black race with whom white man cannot live and work on equal terms and the climate is not suitable for hard manual labour.” Those who equated Zionism with racism on account of Balfour’s support for the Jewish state in Palestine jumped to a wrong conclusion. Balfour issued his Declaration as a means of imperial conquest; the defense of the Jews served in his plans only as a pretext for establishing colonial rule over Palestine That explains his struggle against Jewish immigration into England; he needed them in the Middle East. But as soon as Great Britain got hold of the Palestine Mandate that policy changed.

In 1920 British High Commissioner nominated the fair-haired, blue-eyed Haj Amin as Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. Haj Amin was a member of the Husseini clan, which traced its roots to Circassians or non-Arab (Aryan) Moslems who came from the Caucasus Mountains. Born in 1896 of Egyptian parents, Husseini was educated at Cairo’s El Azhar, the world’s largest and most influential Moslem university. He was responsible for the riots and killings of 1920-1921; hence he was the first to employ the techniques of anti-Semitism to political purpose in the Middle East. Before he could be arrested, Husseni fled to Transjordan. Tried in absentia, he was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment, but his Arab supporters threatened further violence. The high commissioner amnestied him, and appeasement of the Arabs was established as the leitmotiv of British administration for the duration of the mandate. With his pardon, Husseini, a common felon, became one of the key men in the administration of Palestine’s affairs. Despite the opposition of the Moslem High Council, Husseini was reappointed grand mufti for life. The Council rejected his appointment, but was overruled by the high commissioner.

Great Britain applied to Palestine the same racist policy which the Ottoman Empire used to subjugate Egypt. Its real rulers were a caste of white slaves, or Mameluks, whose numbers were constantly replenished from the slave markets of the Caucasus. The young slaves, transported to Egypt, became part of a swash bucking and quarrelsome elite who exploited the patient fellahin. Officers in the Egyptian army used their non-Egyptian blood as a magic ichor providing privilege and rank. It will be convenient to call these officers “Circassian”, though this term properly belongs to Muslim from Caucasus, while many of the caste were Turks, Albanians, or Kurds. For leading a conspiracy of Egyptian officers against the more reliable Circassians, the native Orabi had been court-martialed; the president of the court was Stone Pasha, an American Southerner in khedivial pay. By 1903 a Nationalist Party was playing an increasingly influential role among Egyptian youth. Its leader Mustafa Kamil had a gift for resonant phrases, “In this century the slavery of individual has been abolished, in its place has been introduced the slavery of peoples.”

The summer of 1929 saw the arrival in Palestine of a young American writer. Vincent Sheean was a gentile when, when at Chicago University, had joined a Jewish fraternity. Sheean regarded Palestine “as the most flagrant example of the British betrayal of Arab interests after the war. These Arabs had no political rights of any kind, no parliament or council or legislature, and were governed by ukase. The law was whatever the High Commissioner wanted it to be.” He swiftly arrived at the conclusion that the Balfour Declaration was a document that really guaranteed only one thing, the permanence of the British occupation of Palestine. Indeed, British Colonial Secretary Joseph Chamberlain disdained Orientals; in this category he included Jews. He once told an Italian statesman: “There is, in fact, only one race I despise – the Jews, Sir. They are physical cowards.” This opinion inspired the ill-famous “Dichiarazione della Razza” made public on 14 July 1938 by the Italian Fascist university professors in which they extolled a pure “Italian (Aryan) race” and made a sharp distinction between the Mediterraneans of Europe (Occidentals), on the one hand, and the Orientals and Africans on the others. They stressed that Jews did not belong to the Italian race. Arguing that “the purely European physical and psychological characteristics of Italians must not be altered in any way”, they foreshadowed the Nazi Holocaust of the Jews. This racist manifesto was supposed to justify the colonial conquest of Ethiopia and “carving out Latin kingdoms in Palestine” (like The British Palestine Mandate).

The British Egypt of the 1930s produced imitations of France’s Pierre Laval or Britain’s Sir Samuel Hoare. Thanks to King Fuad’s upbringing, the court was Italianate, thronged with Italian courtiers, hairdressers, gunmen or pimps; a vague sympathy with Mussolini was in fashion; some, like Fuad’s son, Farouk, even supposed that their semi-Aryan blood would exonerate them from the Nazi downgrading of the Egyptians as a miscegenated Untermensch.

In fact, it did, because Turkism, no less than Deutschtum was the imperial racism comparable to the Roman imperialism based on the conviction that the Roman belonged to a “fortunate race” or, ‘favoured race” in Darwin’s jargon. Arthur Lumley Davids (1811-1832) in his introduction to the Grammar of the Turkish Language argued that the Turks formed part of the Caucasian race. Leon Cahun, an ardent admirer of Jenghiz Khan, advanced the theory that a proto-Turanian (or Finno-Japanese) race had ante-dated such relative newcomers as Celts, Greeks and Latins. Mustafa Jelaleddin Pasha, a Polish convert, revising the theory of Cahun, argued that the Turks were the basic race from which all European derived. He described this race as “Turo-Aryan”. To him a policy of Westernization would represent a natural return to their own by a people who had become entangled, to their disadvantage, in the Semitic culture of the Middle East. In many respects Zbig Brzezinski is a modern incarnation of Jelaleddin Pasha.
In the meantime Haj Amin, moved to Italy, where he formed a friendship with B. Mussolini. The Mufti promised the Nazis that he would supply them with fighters; his recruits, mostly Moslems living in Yugoslavia, would not only fight in battle, but could perform vital military sabotage, disrupting British communications and cutting off the British supply of oil. In exchange for these activities Haj Amin wanted Axis help to fight the Jews. Mussolini embraced the mufti and, in 1941, responded to his pleas by declaring, “If the Jews want a state, they should establish Tel Aviv in America.” By April 1942, the mufti convinced both Hitler and Mussolini to support him and persuaded the fascist leaders to agree to a secret document. In a letter addressed to Haj Amin and signed by Joachim von Ribbentrop and Count Galeazzo Ciano, the Axis powers promised to help the Arab countries with “every possible aid in their fight for liberation…as well as to the abolition of the Jewish National Homeland in Palestine. In admiration, the Arabs dubbed Hitler “Abu Ali”, the “good fighter”. In May 1942, only a few weeks after he received the confidential document, the mufti and his associates settled in Germany and went to work helping the Nazis. On a radio program broadcast in Berlin and transmitted to the Arab world, Haj Amin called for his Moslem brothers’ help: “Oh, Arabs use and avenge your martyrs. Fight for your independence. I, mufti of Palestine, declare this war a holy war against the British yoke of injustice, indecency and tyranny.” Haj Amin was also determined to stop the transport of German Jews to Palestine. The Nazis, concerned about the safety of German citizens living in Palestine, had struck a deal to exchange German and East European Jews for their own natives. But in a letter to the German foreign minister the religious leader of the Moslems begged the Germans not to send 4,000 Jewish children and 500 Jewish adults to Palestine; similar letters were sent to Romania, where 1,800 Jewish children and 200 Jewish adults were about to be transported, and to Hungary, where 900 Jewish children and about 100 Jewish adults were to be transferred Instead, the mufti recommended that these Jews all be sent to concentration camps in Poland. In 1945, Haj Amin escaped formal charges by the Soviets and the Yugoslavs as well as attempts of Jewish groups to bring him to trial at Nuremberg and, after a search for safety, fled in disguise to Egypt, where he asked King Farouk for asylum for himself and his colleagues. With him in Egypt were dozens of close associates, among them Arafat’s relative, Sheik Hassan Abu Saud, and another family member, the military leader Abdel Kadar al-Husseini.
Early in his career, when the young Arafat sought to establish his Palestinian credentials and promote his eventual claim to leadership, he could not afford to admit any facts which might reduce his Palestinian identity. That is why he dramatized it by describing himself as “born in Jerusalem”. Admitting his Egyptian birth, and that his father was half Egyptian, or rather Circassian, could have affected his chances of success, particularly during periods when the Palestinians were inclined to separate themselves from the rest of the Arabs, whose efforts on their behalf had disappointed them.
Said K. Aburish, a Palestinian, and a former correspondent for Radio Free Europe in his book “Arafat. From Defender to Dictator (1998) observed:

The ordinary people of the West bank were reluctant to join Fatah fighters. To them their new Israeli masters were no worse than the pre-war Jordanian administration – in fact; the Israeli police treated them better. In addition, there were economic benefits, and before the war thousands of West Bankers had flocked to Israel to work. Furthermore, unlike refugee crying for someone to represent them the people of the Wes bank had their own leadership based on old regional, tribal and family associations…”Unfortunately, Judge Goldstone never read this book.

Defense Secretary Forestall was appalled: ‘no group in this country’, he wrote bitterly of the Jewish lobby, ‘should be permitted to influence our policy to the point where it could endanger our national security.’

American backing for Israel in 1947-8 was the last luxury the Americans permitted themselves before the Realpolitik of global confrontation descended. The same time-scale influenced Russia. It backed Zionism in order to break up Britain’s position in the Middle East It not only recognized Israel, but, in order to intensify the fighting and the resultant chaos, it instructed the Czechs to sell it arms. That was why the Arabs rejected the UN partition scheme, which gave the Jews only 5,500 square miles, chiefly in the Negev Desert By accepting it, despite disadvantages. the Zionists showed they were willing to abide by the arbitration of international law. At the Southern end of the Red Sea, the warrior-kingdom of Axum joined the highlands of northern Ethiopia to the Yemen. What was remarkable about these Christian kingdoms of the periphery was that, despite extensive borrowings from local Roman practice, they did not wish to see themselves exclusively as miniature Romes. Because they were Christian, they could belong, also to a non-Roman past – to the Old Testament. The “Kebra Negast” (“The Glory of the Kings”) – the foundation-legend of the medieval empire of Ethiopia, whose nucleus may go back to the age of Ella Atsbeha – treated the Byzantine emperors as no more than northern partners of an Ethiopian imperial dynasty, that claimed to be descended from Menelik, the son of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. When Gregory of Tours wrote his “Book of History”, in the 580s – it is surprising how little attention he paid to Clovis’ relations with the east Roman emperors. Instead, he recorded the king’s rise to power among the Franks. For Gregory it was a career worthy of King David. It was better to be remembered as resembling a king of the long-past ancient Israel than as having once been an ally of the still-existing east Roman Empire. When, in 520 the British cleric, Gildas, wrote his On the Ruin of Britain, Rome again is peripheral to his story. He sees the Britons as an erring people of Israel, and himself as their Jeremiah. The Romans, for Gildas, were no more than the “worthy allies” of the ever-fickle Britons. Gildas, as a Christian writer, evidently felt that the Old Testament did better justice to his stormy times than did fading memories of a Roman empire. From Hadrian’s Wall to the Atlantic coast of Morocco and the Horn of Africa, the idea of Rome had shrunk to ever smaller dimensions, to be replaced by a different past – a past brought close through Holy Scripture that described, so vividly and so appositely, the turbulent warrior-kingdom of ancient Israel. In the Touareg language, the word for any sacrifice, tafaske was derived from the Biblical high festival of Pascha.

At the time of Arab aggression, The Touaregs also known as Berbers were ruled by a Queen of Jewish descent. Her name was Kahina which means Prophetess. After the Arab general Hassan ibn al Numan took Carthage from the Byzantines, Kahina's forces defeated him. The Encyclopedia Judaica notes that Arabic authors, notably the major 14th century historian Ibn Khaldun say that Kahina and her tribe, the Jurawa of Aurea Mountains, in eastern Algeria and Tunisia were Jewish. Charles Andre Julien, in his History of North Africa, notes that another writer gave Kahina “the picturesque appellation of the “Berber Deborah” (Deborah was the judge of ancient Israel). Julien believes that Kahina's resistance to the Arabs was “nurtured, as it seems, by Berber patriotism and Jewqish faith. The schism between the native Berbers and the invading Arabs continues to this day.

The Berber columnist Ahmed Asid's view of the recent conflict in Gaza differs totally from the anti-semitic propaganda of the West. An article by the Moroccan Berber journalist Moha Moukhlis posted in the www.amazighworld.org website expressed in starker terms what some Berbers feel is the gulf between themselves and the Arab world: “...I want first to emphasize that I am writing as an Amazigh (Berber) deprived of my basic and legitimate rights: to be myself in the land of my ancestors and to express myself freely without constraint.

I am not part of the flock that bleats as it is being led to the slaughterhouse, I am allergic to totalitarian ideologies and impassioned rhetoric. I hate confusions and ambiguities: I am an Amazigh, a free man.

“I thus affirm that the tragedy of the Gaza Palestinians serves as fuel for Hamas, a gang of fundamentalist criminals who are perpetrating self-genocide, with the assistance of genocidal Arab regimes. They are mentally disturbed people who hate life and use the blood of their fellow Muslims to perpetuate their macabre aura.

In terms of “blood” Berbers probably represent many as 80% of the population in Morocco and Algeria. More than 60% in Tunisia and Libya and 2% in Egypt, altogether some 50 million people. A proper Berber census, of course, has never been taken and the above figure is uncertain. Centuries of cultural “Arabization” has persuaded many Berbers, particularly in the cities, to adopt the Arabic language. The number of people perceiving themselves as Berbers is hence much lower, about half of the figure given above. However, the influx of “proper” Arabs from the East into the Berber area, in connection with the Muslim conquest in the 8th century is estimated at only 200 000. It is thus probable that the population of the North Africa/Tamazgha – Morocco, Tunisia and Libya – actually consists of native Berber stock. Some 4 millions North Africa/Tamazgha, half of whom perceive themselves Berbers, now live in Europe, mainly in France.

In revenge for this delay, he crucified, it is said,two thousand of his prisoners. Jerusalem voluntarily surrendered,and therefore was treated leniently: but the passage of the Macedonian army into Egypt being obstructed at Gaza, the Persian governor of which, Betis, made a most obstinate defense, that place, after a siege of two months, was carried by assault, ten thousand of its men were massacred, and the rest, with their wives and children, sold into slavery. Betis himself was dragged alive round the city at the chariot-wheels of the conqueror. There was now no further obstacle. The Egyptians, who detested the Persian rule, received their invader with open arms. He organized the country in his own interest, entrusting all its military commands to Macedonian officers, and leaving the civil government in the hands of native Egyptians.

Both in County Antrim, in Northern Ireland, and in Panjikent, east of Samarkand, fragmentary copy-books – wax on wood for Ireland, broken potsherds for central Asia – contain lines copied from the Psalms of David. In around 730, Saint Boniface felled the sacred oak at Geismar and wrote back to England for yet more splendid copies of the Bible, written “in letters of gold…that a reverence for the Holy Scriptures may be impressed on the carnal minds of the heathen.” Even further to the east, in an inscription set up in around AD 820 at Kara-Balghasun, on the High Orkhon river, the Uighur ruler of an empire formed between China and Inner Mongolia, recorded how his predecessor, Bogu Qaghan, had introduced new teachers into his kingdom in AD 762. The Armenian Vardan and his companions were presented as the heirs of the Maccabees. Faced, as the Maccabees had been, by a formidable empire, their ranks thinned by apostasy Vardan and his army had died to preserve the “traditions of their fathers.” Their loyalty to Christianity took the form of a solemn “Covenant”, sworn upon a copy of the Gospels. It was a Covenant that embraced nobleman and peasant alike. On both sides of the frontier between Rome and Persia, all Armenians were henceforth expected to be loyal to a single “patrimonial faith.” They resembled the militant Israel and the Maccabees. It was a more precise and aggressively embattled use of the Old Testament and of the history of the people of Israel than any invoked by clerical writers in the warrior-kingdoms of the west.



The Religious Revolution in Central Asia

Ulfilas, or Gothic Wulfila (ca. 310-383), bishop, missionary and bible translator, was a Goth or half-Goth who had spent time inside the Roman Empire at the peak of the Arian controversy. In 383, to escape religious persecution by a Gothic chief, he obtained permission from Constantius II to migrate with his flock of converts to Moesia and settle near Nicopolis ad Istrum, what is now northern Bulgaria. There, Ulfilas translated the Bible from Greek into Gothic language. Fragments of his translation have survived, including Codex Argenteus, in the University Library of Uppsala in Sweden. Since he was translating from Greek he had not to invent a Gothic term for the Latin crux (cross; he simply translated the Greek stavros as galga which has the same meaning as the mentioned Greek word: pole. The modern German 'Galgen' means gallows.

Wulfila's Bible was used by Goths over a large geographical range – from Wulfila's original Trans-Danubian bishopric to Italy and Spain. It was understood by groups of people who would certainly have spoken dialects, and may well have spoken different languages. Wulfila converted many among the Goths, preaching an Arian Christianity, which when they reached the western Mediterranean, set them apart from their overwhelmingly “orthodox” (i.e. Trinitarian) neighbors and subjects.

In Matthew 6:24, where the Greek text reads, “No man may serve two masters,” Wulfila translation reads, “No man may have obligations to two lords” (“Ni manna mag twaim fraujam skalkinon”). The language of servitude and slavery has been translated into tribal logic of mutual obligations and reciprocity as well as voluntary service of a warrior to a lord. In the 19th century, the Vatican sided with the slavocracy against the Union. In 1933, when Hitler's dictatorship was internationally isolated, the Vatican sent a crucial signal to Catholic Europe by initiating, negotiating and signing the Reichkonkordat. Judaism becomes the State Religion of Chazaria

“Chazars were a people of Turkish origin whose life and history are interwoven with the very beginnings of the history of the Jews of Russia. The Khazar Empire represented a Third Force, which had proved equal to either of them, both as an adversary and an ally. But it could only maintain its independence by accepting neither Christianity nor Islam – for either choice would have automatically subordinated it to the authority of the Roman Emperor of the Caliph of Baghdad. There had been no lack of efforts by either court to convert the Khazars to Christianity or Islam, but all what resulted it was the exchange of diplomatic courtesies, dynastic inter-marriages and shifting military alliances based on mutual self-interest.

The Chazar King Joseph, in his letter to Hasdai ibn Shaprut (about 960), gives the following account of the conversion: “Some centuries ago King Bulan reigned over the Chazars. To him God appeared in a dream and promised him might and glory. Encouraged by this dream, Bulan went by the road of Darlan to the country of Ardebil, where he gained great victories (over the Arabs). The Byzantine emperor and the caliph of the Ishmaelites sent to him envoys with presents, and sages to convert him to their respective religions. Bulan invited also wise men of Israel, and preceded to examine them all. As each of the champions believed his religion to be the best, Bulan separately questioned the Mohammedans and the Christians as to which of the other two religions they considered the better. When both gave preference to that of the Jews, the king perceived that it must be the true religion. He therefore adopted it.”

“The Chazar people were an unusual phenomenon for Medieval times. Surrounded by savage and nomadic tribes, they had all the advantages of the developed countries: structured government, vast and prosperous trading, and a permanent army. At the time, when great fanatism and deep ignorance contested their dominion over Western Europe, the Chazar state was famous for its justice and tolerance. People persecuted for their faiths flocked into Khazaria from everywhere. We know that Chazaria was a relatively civilized country among the barbarians of the North, yet not committed to either of the militant creeds, and so it came a natural haven for the periodic exodus of Jews under Byzantine rule, threatened by forced conversion and other pressures. Persecution in varied forms had started with Justinian (527-65) and assumed particularly vicious forms under Heraclitus in the 7th century, Leo III in th 8th, Basil and Leo IV in the 9th, Romanus in the 10th. Thus Lo III, who ruled during the two decades immediately preceding the Chazar conversion to Judaism, “attempted to end the anomaly (of the tolerated status of Jews) at one blow, by ordering all his Jewish subjects to be baptized. Many endured torture, and those who did not have the strength to resist returned later on to their faith - “like dogs to their vomit,” as one Christian chronicler put it. A Mini crusade Has Landed

Two boats of international activists on a solidarity mission with the Palestinians have reached the Gaza Strip after a two-day journey at sea. Shortly before their arrival, Foreign Ministry spokesman Aviv Shiron announced that the ships would be allowed to reach the Gaza Strip.
A total of 46 members of the US-based group were on the boats, hoping to reach the shores of Gaza on Saturday with a delivery of humanitarian goods for Palestinians.
The 70-foot (21 meter) Free Gaza and 60-foot (18 meter) Liberty left Cyprus early Friday for the estimated 30-hour trip in a bid to break Israel's 14-month Gaza blockade. The 46 activists from 14 countries include an 81-year-old Catholic nun and the sister-in-law of Mideast envoy and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. She was praying for conversion of the perfidious Jews day and night. But there was no US senator this time. Her prayer went like that:
For the conversion of Jews. Let us pray also for the Jews that the Lord our God may take the veil from their hearts and that they also may acknowledge our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us pray: Almighty and everlasting God, you do not refuse your mercy even to the Jews; hear the prayers which we offer for the blindness of that people so that they may acknowledge the light of your truth, which is Christ, and be delivered from their darkness.

Nothing changed in the Catholic mindset. And keep in mind that the prayer for the conversion of Jews posits Jesus over YHWH. In therms of theology it mans abolition of equality of the members of the Trinity. This prayer, like the Gospel of John (8:44) proclaims that God of the Jews is Devil and Liar. That's what the deliverance from “their darkness” means...

The geographical expansion did not decrease until the Khazar empire covered an area from Hungary-Austria in the west to the Aral Sea in the east, Kiev-Upper Volga in the north and the Black and Caspian seas and Caucasus in the south. They installed counts (the so called “Jewish princes”) in Hungary-Austria, they taxed Goths and Crimea and Greek-Byzantine towns an landlords at the northern shores of the Black sea, they taxed Rus merchants and raiders and other trading through their territory. They established a net of trading post on their own behalf along the Volga, Don, Donets and Dnepr river systems, as well as along the caravan-roads, with immigrated refugee Jews as a favored merchantry and trusted administrators and small garrisons of Turks for protection, and they fortified their heartland.

At the peak of their power the Khazars exacted tribute from some of the 30 different nations and tribes inhabiting the vast territories between the Caucasus, the Aral Sea, the Ural Mountains, the town of Kiev and the Ukrainian steppes. The peoples under Khazar suzerainty included the Bulgars, Burtas, Huzz, Magyars, the Gothic and Greek colonies of the Crimea, and the Slavonic tribes in the north-western woodlands. Beyond these extended dominions, Khazar armies also raided Georgia and Armenia and penetrated into the Arab Caliphate as far as Mosul. The Chazar kingdom occupies an intermediary position in time, size, and degree of civilization between the Hun and Avar Empires which preceded, and the Mongol Empire that succeeded it.
The gigantic muslin pincer movement across the Pyrenees in the west and across the Caucasus into Eastern Europe was halted at both ends about the same time. As Charles Martel saved Gaul and Western Europe, so the Chazars saved the eastern approaches to the Volga, the Danube, and the East Roman Empire itself. Muqaddasi: “In Chazaria, sheep, honey and Jews exist in large quantities.”

When the Magyars migrated to Hungary in 896 they were led by a dissident Khazar tribe, known as the Kabars, who settled with them in their new home. The Kabars-Chazars were known as skilled gold and silversmiths; the Magyars only acquired these skills in their new country. Thus the theory of the Khazar origin of at least some of the archaeological finds in Hungary is not implausible.

It was one of the successors of Bulan, named Obadiah, who regenerated the kingdom and strengthened the Jewish religion. He invited Jewish scholars to settle in his dominions, and founded synagogues and schools. The people were instructed in the Bible, Mishnah, and Talmud, and in the “divine service of the hazzanim.” In their writings the Chazars used the Hebrew letters (Harkavy, Skazaniya, 241)

At the Byzantine court the chagan was held in high esteem. In diplomatic correspondence with him the seal of three solidi was used, which marked him as a potentate of the first rank, above even the pope and the Carolingians monarchs. Emperor Justinian II, after his flight from Kherson to Doros, took refuge during his exile with the chagan, and married the chagan's daughter Irene, who was famous for her beauty (702)

When one of the chagans received information (c. 921) that the Mohammedans had destroyed a synagogue in the land of Babung, he gave orders that the minaret of the mosque in his capital should be broken off, and the muezzin executed.

In 2002, a coin from the Viking “Spillings Hoard” of Gotland, Sweden was identified as having been minted by Jewish Khazars, due to its markings and inscriptions Moses is the messenger of God in place of the usual Muslim inscription Muhammad is the messenger of God.

“The Khazarian population in Hungary further increased in size when the Hungarian Duke Taksony (reigned 955-970) invited Chazar Jews to settle in his realm.” (Kevin Alan Brrok, in The Jews of Khazaria (Jason Aronson, 1999), p. 208)

The best evidence that Chazars form a portion of modern Ukrainian Jewry is the fact that Slavic-speaking Jews existed in Kievan Rus. Scholarship has demonstrated that these Jews were of Chazarian and Byzantine origins, and thus are distinguished from later immigrants from the West. And, by the way, the Kozare district in Kiev was named for Chazars.

It served the dual purpose of scholarly discourse in Hebrew (analogous to the use of medieval Latin in the West) and as a written alphabet for the various languages spoken in Khazaria (analogous to the use of the Latin alphabet for various vernaculars in Western Europe). From Khazaria the Hebrew script seemed to have spread into neighboring countries. Thus Chwolson reports that “inscriptions in a non-Semitic language (or possibly in two different non-Semitic languages) using Hebrew characters were found on two gravestones from Phanagoria and Parthenit in the Crimea; they have not been deciphered yet.” (The Crimea was, under Khazar rule, but it also had an old-established Jewish community, and the inscriptions may even pre-date the conversion.

Some Hebrew letters (shin and tsadeh) also found their way into the Cyrillic alphabet, and furthermore, many Polish silver coins have been found, dating from the 10th or 12th century, which bear Polish inscriptions in Hebrew lettering (e.g. Meshko krol Polski, Leszek krol Polski), side by side with coins inscribed in the Latin alphabet. Poliak comments:


“These coins are the final evidence for the spreading of the Hebrew script from Khazaria to the neighboring Slavonic countries. The use of the coins was not related to any question of religion. They were minted because many pf the Polish people were more used to this type of script than to the Roman script, not considering it as specially Jewish.”

The Jews had the experience which their new hosts were lacking, and it was only logical that they were called in to advise and participate in the management of the finances of court and nobility. The coins minted in the 12th and 13th centuries with Polish inscriptions in Hebrew lettering are somewhat bizarre relics of these activities.

The exact purpose they served is still something of a mystery. Some bear the name of a king (e.g. Leszek, Meszko), others are inscribed “From the House of Abraham ben Joseph the Prince”, or show just a word of benediction, “Luck” or “Blessing”. But in contrast to Western Europe, finance and commerce were far from being the only fields of Jewish activity. Some rich emigrants became landowners in Poland as Count Teka was in Hungary, Jewish land-holdings comprising a whole village of Jewish farmers are recorded, for instance, in the vicinity of Breslau, before 1203; and in the early days there must have been Chazar peasants in considerable numbers, as the ancient Khazar place-names seems to indicate. But under the joint pressure of the ecclesiastical hierarchy and the feudal landlords, the Polish Parliament in 1496 forbade the acquisition of agricultural land by Jews. Theses days they are forbidden the acquisition of agricultural land in the so-called West Bank (Judea and Samaria).

The most important historical conclusion is that literacy did not come to the Slavs with Christianity, rather Christianity, due to its intolerant attitude, strangled the Slavonic culture based on the Biblical foundations and introduced instead the paganized religion of imperial Rome now dogmatically ruled by popes.

There is an abundance of ancient place names in the Ukraine and Poland, which derive from “Khazar” or “zhid”: Zydowo, Kozarzewek, Kozara, Kozarzow, Zhydowska Wola, Zydaticze, and so on. They may have once been villages, or just temporary encampment of Chazar-Jewish communities on their long trek to the West. Similar place-names can also be found in the Carpathian and Tatra mountains, and in the eastern provinces of Austria.

The inscription on a coin mentioned above From the House of Abraham ben Joseph the Prince testifies to the same historical fact as the inscription Abrahm Pecha which I saw many years ago when I was still working in the Jewish Museum of Cracow. One day a lady showed up with a coin and begged me to decipher the Hebrew inscription which I did. It is a well established fact that viceroy of the chagan was called “isha,” “bek” or “pech” which was a variant of the title pasha which was put after the name of civil or military officials of high rank, exactly like on the coin I dealt with. Also pacha (Turkish pasa, variant of basa, head, cp. boss).. The language of Afghanistan and of the Pathan tribes of Pakistan is called pashto. One of the provinces of Afghanistan is still called Chazara. The Afghanis consider themselves to be the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel.

The position of the chagan of the Chazars was similar to that of the former mikados of Japan, while the pacha, his military coregent, corresponded to the shoguns of the latter. The pacha led the army, administered the affairs of the country, and appeared among the people; and to him the neighboring kings paid allegiance. That is the historical background of the Polish legend about Abraham Prochownik, a Jew who was elected King of Poland.

According to professors Bozena Werbart and Jonathan Shepard, the Tengri “sun-amulets” disappeared after the 830s from Chazarian graves, as did other shamanistic possessions, indicating a dramatic shift in religion in the Chazar kaganate. The Catholic translations of Is 27:9: “So that the Asherim and the sun images shall rise no more” avoid the term ‘sun-images’ replacing it by ‘objects of cult’. Let me quote here a revealing passage from the Qur'an:

Abraham and Sun

Thus did He (Allah) show Abraham the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, so that he might become a firm believer. When night drew its shadow over him, he saw a star. ‘That,’ he said, ‘is surely my God.’ But when it faded in the morning light, he said: ‘I will not worship gods that fade.’ When he beheld the rising moon, he said: ‘That is my God.’ But when it set, he said: ‘If my Lord does not guide me, I shall surely go astray.’ Then, when he beheld the sun shining, he said: ‘That must be my God: he is the largest.’ But when it set, he said to his people: ‘I disown your idols. I will turn my face to Him who has created the heavens and the earth, and will live a righteous life. I am no idolater. – 6:79

Let me remind here that when persecution of the Christians was undertaken by Diocletian (303-311), it was because he wanted to establish a church-state in the worship of the sun-god. Emperor Septimus Severus proposed to bring all his subjects together under the worship of Sol Invictus – the Unconquered Sun – and to subsume under that worship all the various religions and philosophies then current. All gods were to be accepted, as long as one acknowledged the Sun. Copernicus restored the sun religion of the Roman Empire; in his The revolutions he describes the sun as All Seeing Being and Visible God seated on a royal throne. Heliocentrism, since Nimrod, was the religion of all 'globalists'. Well, when Rome succumbed to Jesus, it did not embrace him as Jewish teacher (rabbi), but as the sun god Helios (Apollo) whose halo used to symbolize the divine rank of Roman emperors. Invicta Roma was the Empire of Sol Invictus or Kosmokrator (Ruler of the Cosmos) and as such was “destined to rule the whole world” (Virgil).

The term Turk, in the sense in which it was used by medieval writers refers primarily to language and not to race. In this sense the Huns and Khazars were “Turkic” people. The Khazar language was supposedly a Chuvash dialect of Turkish, which still survives in the Autonomous Chuvash Soviet Republic, between the Volga and the Sura. The Chuvash people are actually believed to be descendants of the Bulgars, who spoke dialect similar to the Khazars.
West Turkish Empire, or Turkut Kingdom was a confederation of tribes, held together by a ruler: the Kagan or Khagan. This first Turkish state lasted for a century (circa 550-650) and then fell apart. However, it was only after the establishment of this kingdom that the name “Turk” was used to apply to a specific nation, as distinct from other Turkic-speaking peoples like the Khazars and Bulgars. The Khazars were under Han tutelage, then under Turkish tutelage. After the episode of the Turks in the middle of the 7th century it was their turn to rule the “Kingdom of the North,” as the Persians and Byzantines came to call it. The Persian state never recovered from the crushing defeat inflicted on it by Emperor Heraclitus in 627.

The Ticking Bomb of the Slavonic Josephus

Around the 11th and 12th centuries or in the period when the Chazar Kingdom flourished there appeared the Slavonic text without any link to other church documents. This text, preserved in a number of manuscripts, is strongly related to the Greek text of Josephus, The Jewish war, and the manuscripts give the author's name as Josephus. However it is not simply a translation of the Greek text, as it contains both material not present in the Greek, and omits material present in the Greek. The text is commonly known as the Old Slavonic Josephus, or the Old Russian Josephus.

The Old Russian text of the Histories of the Jewish Wars by Flavius Josephus has come to us in many MSS which can be assigned to the XV-XVIII centuries. The Vilnius Chronograph belonged formerly to Vilnius Public Library No. 109 (147), now stored in the manuscript department of the library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences in Vilnius. The Vilnius library obtained it from the Suprasl' monastery, which was founded by emigrants from Athos in 1498. Inside the front cover of the book, the name Zikgimont (Sigismund) appears, probably the Polish king and Grand Prince of Lithuania, Sigismund August II (rule 1544-1572)

There is extant in a number of MSS, a Slavonic or Old Russian translation of the Wars. In this version there are no less than eight pieces referring to John the Baptist, Jesus and the first Christians. These remarkable passages, of which the Greek text shows no trace, have been excerpted and the Slavonic text of them critically established by the collation of four MSS. These eight pieces were excerpted from the rest of the text and first made accessible for the general world of scholarship, in German translation, by A. Berendts, in 1906. ('Die Zeugnisse vom Christentum im slavischen "De bello judaico" des Josephus'—Texte und Untersuchtungen, N.F. Xiv. 4).


IV.
THE MINISTRY, TRIAL AND CRUCIFIXION OF JESUS.
(Follows on B. J. II. ix. 3.)
1. At that time also a man came forward,—if even it is fitting to call him a man [simply].
2. His nature as well as his form were a man's; but his showing forth was more than [that] of a man.
3. His works, that is to say, were godly, and he wrought wonder-deeds amazing and full of power.
4. Therefore it is not possible for me to call him a man [simply].
5. But again, looking at the existence he shared with all, I would also not call him an angel.

In other words, Jesus is more than a man, like a Greek hero, but less than an angel, i.e. he has no divine status whatsoever. Angels were called “god” and “spirits” because they have the same nature as God: “Are not angels spirits...” (Heb. 1:14 NRSV)

Subordination of Jesus to his Father (YHWH) in Jewish Christianity

Jesus was confident and strong when he pursued with a whip the money changers at the Temple, but he became emotionally weak before his crucifixion. He told the God, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup (the crucifixion) from me...” Then an angel from heaven appeared to him and gave him strength (Luke 22:42-44). Jesus became weak, whereas God cannot become weak.

God's title is the “Father”. The appellation “Father” is a title of superiority. A father is greater than his son. Jesus said, “My Father ... is greater than all.” (John 10:29. He also said, “...the Father is greater than I...I do as the Father has commanded me.” (John 14:28, 31. God commanded Jesus. There is no verse in the New Testament which says or hints that Jesus commanded God. Had Jesus been equal to God, he would have referred to him as “Brother”. He would have said, “Brother, forgive them as I forgave then; for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:24)

Tertullian (possibly a Berber) was African moralist, apologist and theologian. His sophistic brilliance and literary versatility, make him a captivating writer as well a priceless mirror of early African Christianity. He wrote: “...but the Logos did not become Son of God until He ought forth to the the instrument of creation; there was a time when the son (as Son) did not exist. The Father has the fullness of Deity, the Son only a portion of it, derived from Him.”

Origen – Alexandrian theologian (185-254) said, “there may be some who maintain that the Savior is the Most High God over all, but we do not certainly hold such a view, who believe him when he said of himself: “The Father who sent me is greater than I”; and again: “Clearly we assert...that the Son is not mightier than the Father, but inferior.” (The Gospel According to John, B. F. Wescott commentary, p. 213)


The Aryan Party wins at the Council of Nicaea

At the Council of Nicaea in 325, the Emperor Constantine ordered: “Henceforth let us have nothing in common with this odious people (meaning Jews).” Following this policy of Christian apartheid, the Aryan dogma of Trimurti (“He, who is Vishnu, is also Shiva, and he, who is Shiva, is also Brahma: one being but three gods”) was adopted as the Christian dogma of Holy Trinity. Emperor Constantine was not a Christian yet, when he proposed his Trinitarian formula; he was a votary of the sun god Sol Invictus. This dogma became the subject of heated controversy between Athanasius who contended that Christ was made of substance identical with God* (homoousios) and Arius, a presbyter of Alexandria who claimed that he was made only of similar substance (homoiousios). Substance is a kind of matter, a physical reality, that can be touched and felt. God cannot be touched or felt with our hands.

Over this doctrinal difference, turning about a single letter in a Greek word and involving the question of whether God and Christ were cosubstantial and coeternal, a mighty controversy was waged for centuries and thousands of persons lost their lives or freedom in the conflict. Most churchmen did not like this new dogma, since it was a Greek philosophical term not found anywhere in Scriptures. In fact, the new definition of Jesus sounded like the Buddhist dogma of multiplicity proclaiming that, as a transcendent being, Buddha multiplies himself (like Christ in the holy communion) and that all Buddhas (Sakyamuni) are consubstantiated (homoousios) with the essential body (God, the Father). Dipankara, the first of the 24 Buddhas traditionally held to have preceded Gautama, is depicted with a flame rising from his shoulders (Cf. the tongues of fire on the Apostles’ heads). Their worries didn’t stop with this question; the great Platonic philosopher Porphyry, had written that the souls of humans and animals were homoousios. For Porphyry the substance had the same meaning as the universal i.e. the element that an individual shares with others of a great class. For example, in man, the universal is his animal nature. Now we better understand why in the dogma of the Holy Trinity the Holy Spirit appears in the shape of a dove (animal). This is the same pantheism which inspired the ancient Egyptian priests and their zoo theology. For Aristotle God was “something” (i.e. impersonal like Brahma) that moves others without being moved, which is eternal and substance and actuality.

Homoousios could mean “of the same essence,” but it could also mean of the same “substance”, “reality”, “being,” or even “type.” Homoousios bothered bishops because it seemed to obliterate the distinction between the Father and Son, so much so that that for 20 years after the council disbanded, Athanasius himself did not consider it politic to use the term in his writing.

Athanasius Trinitarianism is derived from the solar theology of the pagan world. In his astronomical aspect Zeus-Dionysus has his origin in the zodiac, the ancient solar year. In Libya he assumed the form of a ram, and is identical with the Egyptian Amun, who begat Osiris, the taurian god. Osiris is also a personified emanation of the Father-Sun, and himself the Sun in Taurus. The Parent-Sun being the Sun in Aries. As the latter, Jupiter, is in the guise of a ram, and as Jupiter-Dionysus or Jupiter-Osiris, he is the bull, or Baal. And this solar theology suited well the political purposes of the perennial Roman globalism. The Greek cross of the Zodiac from a Golden Dawn manuscript shows the zodiac signs converging on the wheel of the sun and linked by the coils of the snake biting his own tail, the ourobouros, a symbol that “All is One.” (The famous Bury St. Edmund Cross shows a snake on a forked cross).

The Trinitarian controversy drove a great wedge between the Christian churches of the Greek East and Latin West.

God Called Substantial Reality

R. Boyle refused to communicate with Spinoza when he learned that the philosopher worshiped “Substance” as God.
This “quantum”theology goes as follows, Under and behind all outward appearances or manifestations, there must always be a Substantial Reality. This is the Law. Man, considering the universe, of which he is a unit, sees nothing but change in matter, forces, and mental states. He sees that nothing really is but that everything is becoming and changing (pantarei). Nothing stands still – everything is being born, growing, dying – the very instant a thing reaches its height, it begins to decline – the law of rhythm is in constant operation – there is no reality, enduring quality, fixity (no fixed Biblical species) or substantiality in anything – nothing is permanent but Change. He sees all things evolving from other things, and resolving into other things – a Newton's constant action and reaction, inflow and outflow, building up and tearing down (Vishnu-preserver, Shiva-destroyer), creation and destruction; birth, growth and death. Nothing endures but Change. And if he be a thinking man, he realizes that all of these changing must be outward appearances or manifestations of some Underlying Power – some Substantial Reality. That's what Hegel's Phenomenologie des Geistes is all about.
All thinkers, in all lands and in all times, have assumed the necessity for postulating the existence of this Substantial Reality. All philosophies worthy of the name have been based upon this thought. Men have given to this Substantial Reality many names – some have called it by the term of Deity (under many titles), others have called it “The Infinite and Eternal Energy”, others have tried to call it “Matter”, but all have acknowledged its existence. It is self-evident – it needs no argument.

Throughout the whole of this Slavonic Josephus are found many passages, which are interpolations by Christian authors.  Beside the passage discussed, there is another striking passage, which is a later Christian interpolation, and throws light on the authenticity of the entire Slavonic Josephus.  I refer to the passage in the Fourth Book, which was translated into German by A. Berendts, and later published by Gross.  In this book we find a dialogue between two priests after Jerusalem was taken by Herod.   The passage reads as follows:

"Das Gesetz gebietet uns, keinen Anderstammigen als König zu haben.  Doch wir erwarten den Gesalbten, den Sanften, aus Davids Geschlecht.  Aber von Herodes wissen wir, dass er ein Araber ist, unbeschnitten.  Der Gesalbte wird sanft heissen, aber dieser (ist's), der mit Blut erfült hat unser ganzes Land.  Unter dem Gasalbten war es den Lahmen bestimmt, zu gehen, und den Blinden, sehend zu werden, den Armen reich zu werden.  Aber unter diesem sind die Gesunden lahm geworden.  Was ist dieses?  oder wie?  Haben die Propheten gelogen?  Die Propheten haben geschrieben, dass nicht ermangeln wird ein Fürst aus Juda, bis dass der kommt, dem es übergeben ist.  Auf den hoffen die Heiden.  Aber ist dieser die Hoffnung für die Heiden?  Denn wir hassen seine Missetaten.  Wollen etwa die Heiden auf ihn hoffen?

"Wehe uns, weil uns Gott verlassen hat!  Und vergessen sind wir von ihm!  Und er will uns dahingben zur Verwüstung und zum Verderben!  Nicht wie unter Nebukadnezar und Antiochus (ist es).  Denn damals waren auch die Propheten dem Volke Lehrer.  Und sie verhiessen in betreff der Gefangenschaft und in betreff der Rückkehr.  Und jetzt: weder ist jemand, den man defragen könnte, noch jemand, mit dem man sich trösten könnte." ( "Flavius Josephus vom Jüdischen Kriege B. I-IV, nach der Slavishchen Übersetzung," von Alexander Berendts und Konrard Gross in the Eesti Vahariigi Tartu Ulikooli Toimetused.  Tartu (Dorpat) 1924).
And this uncircumcised Arab, according to the Gospels, was financing Jesus “Flying University”. It took a lot of money to support Jesus and all his disciples for a prolonged period of time.
Luke's accurate and relatively abundant knowledge about the Herod family may be due to his acquaintance with certain people who had close contact with the family. He mentions Joanna the wife of one of Antipas's stewards, among the well-to-do women who supported Jesus and his disciples during their itinerant ministry, and his reference to Manaen 'companion' or 'courtier' of Herod, the tetrarch who became one of the leading teachers and prophets in the church of Syrian Antioch about AD 47 is also of interest. Luke must have found in Manaen a valuable informant on the contacts of Antipas and his relatives with the early Christian story.
“And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him. And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, and Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod’s steward (Chuza was King Herod’s business manager and was in charge of his palace and domestic affairs), and Susanna, and many others, who gave him of their wealth for his needs. “ (Lk. 8:1-3). Interestingly, some early Christian mosaics depict Jesus in uniform of a Roman legionary. And because, according to the dogma of Trinity Jesus is the same as YHWH, it follows that the Creator the Heaven and the Earth needed financial help of Rome's puppet dynasty.

Can you imagine a Jesus Christ these days being financed by M. Abbas or the leader of Hamas Haniyeh? Sure, they have all the money they need, supplied to them by the enemies of Israel. They are Arabs, exactly like the Herodians. In the opinion of Y. Arafat Jesus was the “first Palestinian.” But this Palestinian spoke Hebrew on the cross: “Eli, eli lamma azavtani!” Because there was never a Palestinian language. Palestine, if God ever allows establishment of such a state, will be a weird country, exactly like its ideological father, Emperor Hadrian.

With Philo's close connection to the house of Herod, one might reasonably expect that the miraculous escape from a royal prison of a gang of apostles (Acts 5.18,40), or the second, angel-assisted, flight of Peter, even though chained between soldiers and guarded by four squads of troops (acts 12.2,7) are not real miracles after all. They knew that they were being arrested to make them popular among the oppressed Jews.
Now you will grasp the full meaning of Luke 16:17: “The law and prophets were in force until John's day, from that time the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached.”

From the above mentioned piece IV of the Slavonic Josephus we learn more about the ministry, trial and crucifixion of Jesus:

9. Now he (Jesus) opposed himself in much to the Law and did not observe the Sabbath* according to ancestral custom.
16. But they (the people) saw his power, that he accomplished everything that he would, they urged him that he should enter the city and cut down the Roman soldiers and Pilate rule over us. But that one scorned it.
26. The teachers of the Law were (therefore) envenomed with envy and gave thirty talents to Pilate in order that he should put him to death. 27. And he, after he had taken the money, gave them the consent that they should themselves carry out their purpose.
28. And they took him and crucified him according to the ancestral law.

Do you remember the Israelite who was found picking up firewood on the Sabbath day, and Moses had him stoned to death? (Num. 15:13) And he (Abraham) said to him, 'If they don't listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead. (Luke 16:31)

* In the New Testament epistles there are only 2 references to the Shabbath (Col. 2:16; Heb. 4:4), both these passages Paul clearly explains that the day is not a required day to be observed by Christians. There is no command after the death and resurrection for the Church to keep the Shabbath as an obligation to Christ. Why?

The Stoic philosopher, Seneca who was contemporary with the apostles and whose elder brother, Gallio, encountered St. Paul in Corinth in AD 52 (Acts 18, 12) attacked the rites of the Jews, and the Sabbath in particular. He maintained that the Sabbath is a harmful institution, since by the interposition of this one day in seven they practically lose a seventh part of their life in inactivity, and they suffer by having to put off urgent tasks. The slave masters could not have maximized their profits.

Scholars have ignored the Slavonic Josephus for two reasons.  First, a comprehensive comparison of the Slavonic version of the "War" with the Greek version was not published until 2003.  Second, many items within the Slavonic "War" are not consistent with Traditional Christianity.  The Slavonic Josephus includes "the star of Bethlehem" infant narrative but dates the story at 25 BCE, a full generation before the date as calculated in Matthew. 
This is a very complicated subject, in that all of Christianity is turned upside down.  With this earlier time line for Jesus, it is now possible to compare the early church to the writings of Josephus.  The result is unsettling.  The hero of Traditional Christianity, Paul, becomes the traitor as depicted by Josephus and other early writings.  The introduction of Judas Iscariot by the Gospel writers was just an attempt to shift blame from Paul to a Jewish Apostle.  This whole cover-up is detailed in both books.  What is at stake?  The future of Christianity. The New Jerusalem Monastery was conceived in the 17th century by Patriarch Nikon* as an “icon of the Holy land” with its Garden of Gethsemane, Calvary and Jordan. The Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ is the main cathedral and was built to resemble the cathedral in Jerusalem.
The New Jerusalem Monastery is unparalleled among the monuments of human history, President Medvedev said. “It is deservedly regarded as a cultural phenomenon and it is the only successful attempt to produce an exact copy of the Holy Land,” the president noted, adding, “By restoring our great spiritual centres, we are contributing to the revival of our roots and our values.” So, Russia's spiritual centres are rooted in the Holy Land known these days as Israel, and not in Homer's (Hesiod's) Greece.

Buddhists and Christians conclude that their religions are fundamentally incompatible, while the truth is that they are superficially incompatible. Buddhist correctly point to the facts that the core of their religion lies in the doctrine of non-self, anatta, and that Buddhism is atheistic. Christians point to the Nicene creed: Jesus is the only-begotten Son of God, he is the inimitable Lord and Savior of the world. Yet Jesus seems to have spoken very little of “God”, and certainly not approvingly of the good creator God of his received Jewish heritage. In Britain and the USA, practically every image you see portraying Jesus Christ shows him with light hair and very pale skin - a white man. March 11 – President Dmitry Medvedev's decision to chair the Council of Ties with Religious Organizations raises the status of that group which up to now had been led by an official in the presidential administration and thus gives a major victory to the Russian Orthodox Church and its newly-installed head, Patriarch Kirill (who rejected Darwinism).

Lest anyone miss the importance of Medvedev's decision, Kremlin officials told “Kommersant” that it was “unprecedented” that not only did his chairing of the group raise its status but that the president plan to transform it into a group that meets on a regular basis and makes decisions.

Ill winds are blowing out of Washington these days. On Thursday, The Washington Post headline blared, “Intelligence Pick Blames 'Israel Lobby' for Withdrawal.” The article described how the former US ambassador to Saudi Arabia Charles “Chas” Freeman is blaming Israel's Jewish American supporters for his resignation from his post as chairman of the National Intelligence Council.

The disturbing development exposed by Freeman's appointment is the emergence of a very committed and powerful anti-Israel lobby in Washington. In the past, while anti-Israel politicians, policy-makers and opinion-shapers were accepted in Washington, they would not have felt comfortable brandishing their anti-Israel positions as a qualifying credential for high position. Freeman's appointment shows this is no longer the case. Today in Washington, there are powerful circles of political players for whom a person's anti-Israel bona fides are his strongest suit.

In the weeks since Freeman's appointment first came under scrutiny, his defenders have highlighted his hatred of Israel as the reason for their support for him. They felt that the fact he raised the hackles of Americans who support Israel was reason enough to support him. Whether his views on other issues are reasonable or not was of no interest to them. What next? A proclamation that the Jews deserved their Holocaust? As a justification of the Acquiesce of the U.S. Government in the murder of th Jews as described in Report to the Secretary (of Treasury) on the Acquiescence of This Government in the Murder of the Jew?

It is highly unlikely that American Jewish leaders would ever revert to the policies of their predecessors during WWII, who failed to raise their voices out of fear of ant-Semitism.

Fatah has revived its youth, and clung to armed resistance as a tool of struggle to establish the Palestinian State, akin to the tool of diplomacy and negotiations. But this is not enough, as Hamas has appointed itself as sole custodian over the issue of the conflict with Israel. Thus, it is waiting for a new test for the "patriotism" of Fatah after its sixth conference.

While Fatah has chosen "Palestine first" without investing the tragedies of the distressed in the stocks of "the superpowers" in the game of nations, will Hamas be harmed if it reconsiders the cause of the homeland as a top priority, before any regime or political program? It cannot indeed deny its endeavor to obtain a western recognition of it, and open a dialogue with it. But does the closed eye in the West Bank or Gaza view the fact that the west, be it Europe or the United States, does not give anything with its right hand without taking another thing in the left hand in The ancient Fatah members deserve to be excluded. They have monopolized Palestine for the sake of their power, interests, and desires, and contributed alongside the Gaza authority in fragmenting the dream of the state-nation. Will Hamas learn the lesson and close its eyes to anything farther than the border of Palestine, and turn a deaf ear to any advice other than that calling for urgent unity, in order to atone for what all other factions have caused for people who are fed up with despair and the bitterness of the daggers of brothers that have become more fatal than Israeli rockets. Not enthusiastic about Fatah or Hamas, right?

On March 3, 1919, King of Hedjaz Faisal wrote a letter to Felix Frankfurter, later justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, a letter memorable for its humanity toward the Jews and the statesmanship it reflected. Palestinian state means a secular revolution in the area considered as the cradle of the monotheistic religions which still influence the minds of overwhelming majority of humanity. Changing Islam into a Mundane (Buddhist) Ideology

Dr. Rantisi, Hamas's dead leader used to argue that Allah - many times wrongly translated as 'God' - is not the God of the Bible, nor the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Allah is another deity, one who drinks blood as water, who loves jihad and terror, and promises virgins in his so-called paradise to those who kill Jews - the more the better. Accordingly, we learn from a Palestinian post stamp that the true god of Palestine is Baal-Zephon who was a principal mighty one of Ugait or Ras Shamra, and of the Canaanite people who lived in that area of Syria. Israel was given a choice; they could follow Yahweh to their permanent freedom in the Promised land or they could return to enslavement in Egypt with its idol worship, wherein the idolatry of Baal-Zephon was popular.
Baal was originally, it appears, associated with specific places and sanctuaries; in Ugarit temple he is equated with Dagon. Ball was also known as the sun idol, Baal-Hannan. He had received the name Hannan, or the “grace”. That is exactly what the Pauline Christians teach, that the manner of spiritual life is all grace. “The law has been done away with the Christ’s death; now, do anything you please” is the teaching of Pauline churchianity. In other words Palestinian God is not the God of the Holy Qur'an who is the same as the God of the Bible and creates the world exactly, like YHWH does, and gives the Jews their Promised land:

The scientists who will speak at the Sapienza University conference agree with Nobel Prize-winning biochemist Sir Ernst Chain, who said that evolution was an "hypothesis based on no evidence and irreconcilable with the facts."

The conference, “A Scientific Critique of Evolution,” is being held in response to Cardinal Ratzinger’s (now Pope Benedict XVI) appeal in his book Truth and Tolerance that arguments for and against evolution should be heard with objectivity – “a willingness to listen by both sides.” 

The conference coincides with one being held by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, which refused to allow the scientists with evidence against the theory of evolution to participate in their event. 

The scientists participating in the conference at Sapienza University are not creationists. They represent thousands of world-renowned scientists whose evidence against evolution is often downplayed or ignored by academics who support evolution. Rejecting Galileo's Confidence Tricks
An investigation into … [Galileo's] condemnation was opened in 1979 by Pope John Paul II. A papal commission, set up in 1982, produced several scholarly publications related to the trial. In October 1992 the commission acknowledged the error of the church’s officials. In a speech accepting the report John Paul, alluding to Galileo’s views on scripture and science, said that Galileo, “a sincere believer, showed himself to be more perceptive in this regard than the theologians who opposed him.”

This Copernican Model accomplished three things necessary to the goal of destroying Bible Credibility as the source of God’s revealed Truth to mankind on all matters and making "Naturalistic Science" the new source of Truth to mankind.

The copy of Copernicus's book owned by Johannes Kepler has an inscription indicating that Andreas Osiander Andreas Osiander (Andreas Hosemann) (Ansbach, Bavaria, 19 December, 1498 – 17 October 1552 in Königsberg, Prussia) was a German Lutheran theologian, (Career: 1498-1552) was the anonymous author of the foreword. Its former owner had also marked two sections, which were later to become important in Kepler's thinking: a query on whether the center of the universe was the Sun or the center of the Earth's orbit. He could not fathom Copernicus's dialectics!

Galileo was a rather celebrated and frequent visitor to the Jesuit Roman College. His friendship with members of the Society of Jesus started in 1587, when, at the age of 23, he met Clavius, and continued for the rest of his life. The number and contents of Galileo's letters to Clavius show that he was a good friend of Clavius. The latter was able to needle Galileo about seeing Jupiter's four moons only because Galileo drew them on the lens of his telescope (One of his many confidence tricks).

This Aryan solar philosophy informed the Pythagorean Notebooks (not later than 100 B.C.) in which we find the following train of thoughts: the hot predominates in the heavenly bodies, and this is cause of life; the kinship between gods and human beings is due to the fact that “a human being shares in the hot” (VIII.27) “All things live which share in the hot...but not all have the psyche. An independent Palestinian state is a powerful ticking bomb in the heart of the Arab World.

Father George Coyne, head of the Vatican Observatory Research Group suggested that we might view stars as God's sperm, which is the basic teaching of the Aryan cosmogony. Peled: No settlement freeze deal

Minister-without-Portfolio Yossi Peled on Tuesday denied that there had been a deal on freezing settlement construction.
"There is no agreement whatsoever on the issue of a construction freeze in settlements," he said. "I have heard about developments with my own ears, and believe me, I am the primary source of information."
During a Tel Aviv conference for the 'Preservation of Jerusalem and the Golan Heights,' Peled said that "Jerusalem is our symbol, we'll live anywhere we want there."
He went on to say that during Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's recent trip to Germany, the premier had been assured that "Jews will continue to build and live in Jerusalem."

The S-400 missile defense system could be a part of a much larger deal with Russia that would signify an important diversification of Saudi arms purchasing from its main suppliers: the United States, Britain and France.

On August 29, Russia's Interfax news agency said a $2 billion arms package for the Saudis could include up to 150 helicopters -- 30 Mi-35 attack helicopters and up to 120 Mi-17 transport helicopters -- more than 150 T-90S tanks, 250 BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles and "several dozen" air defense systems
Lieberman wants 'new Israeli foreign policy'

The policy staff in Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman's office has drawn up a secret memo calling for a radical refocus of Israeli foreign policy toward the developing world, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
According to sources, the foreign minister plans to bring the five-page preliminary policy paper to the ministry's senior professional staff in the coming days, to begin discussion on implementing what is being described as "guidelines for a whole new foreign policy."
According to a copy of the memo obtained by the Post, the new policy involves moving away from a "lone dependence" on the United States as a strategic ally, to developing broader and closer ties with other world powers and with the developing world.
The document, which was developed in recent weeks at Lieberman's request, focuses on three major shifts in policy: expanding ties with parts of the world "neglected" by previous governments, lowering international expectations of a breakthrough in negotiations with the Palestinians and creating a "zero-tolerance" policy for anti-Semitic expressions worldwide.
The memo chastises the Foreign Ministry for "becoming the 'Ministry for Palestinian Affairs,' with Israeli foreign policy almost entirely consumed by this single issue."

The monastery of St. Catherine is the Catholic convent where Constantin Tischendorf, the German textual critic and 'first Bible critic in Europe', discovered the Alexandrian manuscript, Sinaiticus Aleph, which was used along with the Vaticanus as the basis for the Westcott-Hort New Greek Text. which underlies modern translations of the Bible.  The impression given by modern textual critics and the Vatican press is that Mt. Sinai is in Egypt; however, Scripture, referring to the giving of the Mosaic Law, states that Mt. Sinai is in Arabia: "For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia..." (Gal. 4:25):
